Hello guys and girls and others I have a question about a computer I ordered I'm wondering if this comp can handle a 64x64 text pack (or more!) Recording w/ fraps . And how much this can handle w/o traps recording
Thanks for your time. (And will it lag?)
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3770 processor (up to 3.90 GHz)
8 RAM
1 terabyte
AMD Radeon™ HD 7570 1GB GDDR5 for Win 8
64 bit windows 8 ( I don't like win 8)
p.s. this is dell xps8500

You know that creeper you killed? What if he had a family? what if his family relied on him for money? What if he had a dog named jimmy? What if he was a suicide bomber, but didn't want to kill you? What if he wanted to hug you and treat you nice? But no you humans are animals you just ruined a creepers family!
Could probably build it cheaper but yes, it could handle above 64x textures and recording at a decent frame rate.
thx

can you please tell me how did you get to think that your near-NASA PC would lag while playing minecraft?
if it was 3Dmax or Battlefield 3 or Crysis i would understand, but Minecraft....

I've never played Battlefield 3 or Crysis but I'm preeeetty sure Minecraft will have lower FPS than them. It's not a very optimized game, especially in jungles.

How do you think this is a good computer?
This is a horrible computer. If you're paying more than $500 for that, it's not worth it.
It's total crap, the GPU is terrible and the power supply and the hard drive propably suck.
Get off your high horse and realize that just because it's from Dell doesn't mean it will perform terribly. The 7570 is more than capable of playing Minecraft just fine even with a 64x texture pack on. I know this because I used to have a 5570 and at 1920x1200 on far and fancy I would get around 80 fps. Considering that his computer has an i7 3770 and mine has a Phenom II X3, he will probably get even more performance than that.
The HDD included is a 7200 RPM model so it should run just fine.
The power supply shouldn't be problem either unless he decides to upgrade. Companies like Dell usually make it so the power supply is just enough for the initial system and nothing more. Since he can't overclock and most likely won't want to open the computer since he bought a prebuilt from Dell, the power supply shouldn't be an issue.
If you are going to hate on a computer, at least do it with some dignity. It may be overpriced, but it has already been ordered so saying it sucks won't help anyone. All he wanted to know was if it would play Minecraft with a 64x texture pack and record. It for sure will be able to run a 64x texture pack and I would expect at least 40 fps even while recording which will work just fine if he uses Fraps to lock the fps to 30.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.

I'm pretty sure my computer can't get +100 FPS in BF3 :|
...You paid $800 for that...
Wow.
Cancel your order if you can. You could have a better computer for $500. That thing is totally unbalanced for gaming.

Honestly it's not that bad, CPU is way overkill obviously but he could upgrade the video card alone it's pretty good to go. I've seen much worse for 800 dollars, heh.
Though I can't stand OEM's, between the crappy PSU's, tiny form fit cases that have proprietary nuts and bolts to do anything to, locked OS's, ugh!
What people don't get is the money value just in freedom, its worth forking over a 100 bucks extra just to not get all the garbage software and terrible design OEM's tend to come with. Not to mention this build is obviously not a gaming PC by design.

No, it will not, the graphics card is absolutely terrible for the price.
Near-NASA... wtf?
Actually not, Minecraft is not intensive at all, if you can't even run far+fancy at 60fps your computer is total crap. Pink text? Really?
I have a Radeon 6870. I can play Minecraft with a 64x texture pack and record at 30fps. My hold back is my CPU. It'll definitely be able to run it at a decent framerate. Just because it's not going to be 200+ frames (which 1, your eye won't ever recognize, 2, your monitor can't even display, and 3, puts unneeded stress on your videocard, overheating it, as is) doesn't mean it's not a decent framerate.
This is a horrible computer. If you're paying more than $500 for that, it's not worth it.
...seriously? The processor alone costs $300 and the video card (7570? was that a typo? I could only find 7750) costs around $100. You're saying that you don't think the case, 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM, PSU, Windows 8, and everything else costs more than $100?

The problem here is that he's using the computer for gaming, so it's worth about that much for him.
If the human eye can notice the difference between 30FPS, when I've read on very, very well know websites for statistics that the eye can only see 33FPS, how are you noticing the 60FPS difference? You WILL see a difference between 30 and 60FPS, you WILL see a difference between 60 and 120FPS, you WILL see a difference between 120 - 200FPS. Everything feels and looks smoother, and more pleasing too the eye.
Honestly, can we add a rule that states, "Don't know, don't post", and "If you have nothing decent too contribute too a thread, don't post in it"...
It's not too big of a difference- if you can just stay at 30FPS it's fine- the problem with 30 FPS is that most comps that run at that speed dip under frequently, causing frame drops.
Sure, 60 FPS and 120 is better, but only incrementally.
Any faster video card would definitely idle while you're playing Minecraft unless you're using a very high resolution texture pack, a shader mod or if the card just doesn't function like it should.
If you think Minecraft lets the video card idle even when it is minimized you're on drugs.
HINT: It doesn't, it runs it full boat at all times, even on menus.

Yes, this isn't normal.
