I was wondering if I could have an external hard-drive with ubuntu on it and all of that stuff on the external one. While I have windows and that stuff on my internal drive. Will that work, if so how would I do that, and set it up.

It would technically work, but not very well. Everything will be extremely slow, and it will barely usable. It would be be better to simply buy another drive and pop it inside your computer.

Hmm, or he could create a partition for linux to run, a small one would be fine...
The thing is I'm using a laptop so that's why I though I'd use an extra one through usb, but if it'll run slow I'll just make a partition, any idea on a sizable amount for ubuntu? Or would half and half be fine?
