I know there are a million different topics out there just like this one, however, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for anywhere else.
My husband bought a 'Refurbished' Laptop a couple years ago for $300 or so. It was refurbished due to wrecking up the input for the power cord. It runs Skyrim and various other demanding games with ease, however, the moment it started up Minecraft, it just about had a seizure. Now, to answer any inpending questions, here's a bucket of info.
Dell
Intel Core i7 - 4800MQ CPU @ 2.70GHz
16GB RAM
64-Bit OS, 64-Bit Processesor
AMD Radeon HD 8790M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 (Is this an issue? Why are there two?)
Windows 10
Latest Version of 64 bit Java (All other versions removed)
_JAVA_OPTIONS (-Xmx4G) Seems to make it run even worse?
Updated Graphics Card (Made it even worse Dx)
Oh, and get this, these are my computer specs. My laptop cost $700. My computer runs regular minecraft fine. Modded minecraft, it starts to strain a bit, but runs alright. 45+ mods, it takes a long time to load and runs hard, but seems to work alright, minus some freezing.
Acer
Intel(R) Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz
8GB RAM
64-Bit OS, 64-Bit Processor
Windows 10
Latest Version of 64 bit Java (All other versions removed)
_JAVA_OPTIONS (-Xmx3G) Modded really strains at 3 GB, max's out my memory and RAM at 95% or more
Updated Graphics Card Didn't seem to make a difference
We're aiming to buy a couple good desktops in the future when we can afford it, and I'm doing the research on that, but for right now, I don't see any good reason as to why his computer was cheaper and better than mine, and sucks horrendously at running Minecraft.
Hi, not sure what you mean by "had a seizure" - did it run, just, very slow?
With the mods that were installed, on his computer, it took a literal 25 Minutes (Timed) for his game to start up, and that was with constant moments of "Not Responding" and then returning to functionality.
When I drastically dropped the amount of mods used, it only took 7 minutes.
The i7-4800MQ is a low-end "mobile" 4th-generation processor, from 2013. The 5500U is 5th-gen, from 2015. For reference, we're now on the 8th Generation; a few years old is a very long time in processors.
So...essentially, the processors in the laptops are just too old to handle the load we're giving them?
Would number of Processors matter? Apparently I've got 4 and he has 8
