Is this normal? Given the way my new machine has performed in other games I expected it would destroy Minecraft w/ shaders, even though I bet this is slowed by the fact every single visible thing is 'moving part'. I'll try and list every detail I can think of.
I've only ever used the Low profile setting in SEUS, with the only changes being Soft Shadows set to ON and HQ volumetric clouds set to OFF just in case. I can't play with 30-40 FPS because I get really sick after not very long, and 50+ frames is only if you're looking somewhere with nothing interesting, so this statistic is worthless in practice. Any time you're near buildings with chests, or anything or any substance at all, it instantly tanks to low 30s.
Render Distance: 15 Normal+
Resolution: 1616x939 (Windowed)
Using Faithful 32x32
Win 10 Home x64
16 RAM 1064MHz
i7-6700 @ 3.40GHz
2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 (HP)
Now here's a list of the basic options in the 'Shaders' menu (NOT the 'Shader Options' button - the menu just before)
Antialiasing: OFF
Normal Map: OFF
Specular Map: OFF
Render Quality: 1x
Shadow Quality: 1x
Hand Depth: 0.5(what is this anyway?)
Old Hand Light: OFF
Old Lighting: Default
Super appreciate anyone taking the time to look at this.
Honestly getting good performance with shaders is pretty difficult anyways. I have a similar PC with a slightly better GPU (GTX 970), and on 1.8.9 I get 60-70 fps, while on 1.11 I get 50-60 fps with drops in the low 40s. 30-50 seems slightly low, but shaders are really finicky anyways, and if you're on 1.11, it's probably normal anyways.
I thought that when I got my PC I'd get 100+ fps with shaders, sadly not the case... if I want shaders I just use Sildur's shaders, then I get 100-150 fps
Hey thanks for the reply, yes I am on 1.11.2. I didn't know that could impact performance, why is it harder on the latest version? I have only a few mods like a light level overlay toggle, dmg/heal numbers display, animal bikes and a minimap.
ALSO - I switched to Sildur's today. I like it over SEUS anyway, and it does run better for me too. In fact I'd have zero gripes if not for the fps drops. So if I'm in a survival world, wherever I have the item frames, storage, etc. just murders 30-40 frames instantly by looking anywhere near it. I guess I just figured the GRAPHICS and not entities would be slowing the game down...that makes no sense to me.
When I'm out in the wild my frames are actually pretty solid with this Sildur's. If I go out into a 'empty' biome, I can get 50-80, even upwards from 100 underground (lol) but as soon as I get back to town, I've got to be happy with 40. This is all on render distance 12, unlike 15 I was using for SEUS. All the comparisons on the shader threads or around the internet seem unrealistic because they don't factor in areas with lots of entities :\

First off, what version of MC? 1.11?
Second of all, are you running any mods?
