I have a dell laptop and when I mod it either works but is really laggy and crashes (shows up launcher with crash report) or doesn't even launch properly and launcher shows up on the game output thing. I have tried making everything on the lowest settings.
Anyway it's really annoying and I want a laptop mainly for gaming where it can handle lots of mods. I do not wish to film for youtube or anything. I would like about 8 ram and quite a lot of storage. my budget is around $800 to $700 but would like to spend as little as needed.
Also The Sims 3 and 4 always crashes with something saying the sims 3/4 has stopped working.
I'm now thinking that'll I'll just get the Lenovo Y40 because I can afford it & it is meant for gaming and has 8 RAM. I don't think other cheaper laptops that I've looked at will work for me.[/header]

I've looked at it and it sounds really good but it's $100 over maximum budget.
I thought it was $650?

If I were you I would definitely go for the lenovo y40, it seems like a pretty solid laptop to me, even the cheapest model.
