Recently, after much research I have created a parts list for a computer build that seems pretty solid to me. Of course I might be totally wrong so feel free to suggest why it's actually terrible. But anyway I was just wondering how well I could expect this pc to perform if I were to build it, now before you ask I doubt I will be doing any video editing or extremely strenuous things. I will probably be playing various video games, some of them may be a little bit hard on the gpu or cpu but I don't have any particular list of games in mind so I can't be certain. I also don't think I will be overclocking at all.
As a side note, I live in Canada so the prices are in Canadian dollars.
Without further ado, I present you the parts list!
This PC will run pretty much anything at decent settings.
Also, you could get a cheaper 960, and you should go for the evga 600b psu. It's cheaper and better. That, and the one you have now is a bit overpriced.
I switched out the psu for the evga 500b instead of the 600b because according to pcpartpicker the build is only going to be 303 watts so I figured I would get the 500b because it's about 10 dollars cheaper than the 600b and is still far over what I need. It is currently $54.99
I also switched out the graphics card for a msi geforce gtx 960 which is pretty much exactly the same but 30 dollars cheaper at $227.00
In fact I also switched out the case for a corsair 200r because currently it is being sold for $44.99
And on another note I can't really tell you for sure what games I'll be playing as currently I don't really have any pc games because my laptop is not powerful enough to run anything. I guess I can tell you for sure that I'll be playing minecraft but I can run minecraft on decent settings at 60fps on my laptop so this could definitely run minecraft. I might just end up picking up some things from steam sales but there really isn't any way to predict what will go on sale. So I guess you could just say I want it to be able to play whatever I may pick up on decent settings.
I changed some things around and now for just a little bit different the whole thing fits with a white/black color scheme. I changed the processor out for a i5-4690k as Bionicbub22 suggested, it's only $20 more so it seems reasonable.I changed the motherboard out to the Msi Z97S SLI Krait edition because it looks really awesome and is better than the other one. And I also changed the case out for the white version of the NZXT S340.
Good the i5-4690K has gotten some people to over 1,000 FPS (Granted they have Optifine) but it is so much more bang for your buck.
Also what games will you be playing?
And with those settings you can run various GPU intensive games like COD or Battlefield and still run them on Medium to Ultra and get a solid 50-90 FPS
I realize I really don't need that high quality of a motherboard but there are some advantages to it. For one it is black and white which means that the entire build follows a color scheme. Secondly if I ever want to upgrade this motherboard will leave lots of room for that. And thirdly the board allows overclocking, which most boards do anyway but it just adds to the benefits if I ever want to overclock in the future. Overclocking in the future is also why I switched out to the 4690k as it is unlocked and in the future I could overclock it as much as I want.

Why not get a CPU cooler now then? It's not very often that companies come out with new cpu coolers unless they're liquid coolers, and still they aren't very often. It's not like a big update to coolers is going to happen in 2-3 years.

Alright, that seems like a reasonable idea. I haven't really looked into cpu coolers at all though, do you know of any decent not so expensive ones?

Upgrade the processor to an i5-4690K and you will essentially get more bang for your buck!

In response to your question about the games I'll be playing I'll just quote myself
But from what you're saying about Battlefield, I sure that this setup will meet that demand.
You don't need the "k" edition of the i5 if you're not overclocking, and you don't need that high quality of a motherboard

Cooler master hyper 212 evo is pretty decent if you're not going to be doing any insane overclocks

Alright, I threw it on there.
