That's amazing :smile.gif: I was thinking of building a similar computer but with a GTX 580 or 590. I'm more of a Nvidia guy.
My specs:
Processor:Intel i7 740QM ~ 1.73Ghz Memory: 4Gb DDR3 PC3-8500 1066Mhz Video Card: HD Radeon 6370M 1Gb DDR3 Hard Drive: 640Gb (Don't know the brand, I'd have to check later)
Well considering I got it for free and it runs minecraft at ~120 fps, I don't really mind. It also runs some newer games, I got Crysis 2 to run at ~45 fps and Team Fortress (Isn't new I know) at ~110.
CPU: Core i7 930 @ 3.8Ghz
Memory: 6gb OCZ (I think) @ roughly 1800 mhz
60gb SSD boot drive
300gb 10k rpm velociraptor (yeah, overkill, whatever).
Cooler Master HAF-930 (I think) Case
1000 watt PC Power and Cooling PSU
ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard
GTX 470 GPU
Noctua NH-D14 air cooler
Windows 7 professional 64bit
I think that's it.
My old post was incorrect, this is what I'm getting (from memory):
Case: In-Win Dragonrider full tower
CPU: i7 2600k
CPU Cooler: I'm getting a customized pre-built, so it's a Water Cooling system with 240mm radiator, no brand name
Motherboard: An Asus Z68 board, I forget which one.
GPU: EVGA GTX 580 Superclocked (plan on SLI'ing eventually)
PSU: 1200w 80+ Gold
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz DDR3
SSD: 120GB Sata III, can't remember brand
HDD: None, waiting for prices to go down from flooding
Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
Model: ASUS Notebook G74Sx Series
Processor: Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
System type: 64-bit
Graphics: nvidia Geforce GTX 560M 2GB
That's all the information I could find.
For cooling I just have some sort of laptop-fan underneath it all the time.

Now, now, children, your uncle DethPotato is here to tell you to be nice to each other regardless of each others' opinions. He is also coming here to tell you to either make a new thread regarding this topic, or get back on the main topic of this thread. Or, you could slightly change the topic of this thread so that your current discussion fits.
Everyone has seen the very numerous threads bashing the various features of 1.9, Notch, Mojang, etc. Can we turn down the hating? Just a little bit? Sure, everyone may not be pleased with enchanting, or potions, but really, is it at all realistic to expect that Notch will undo his work from the past several weeks and take these features out? One, that would infuriate far more players than it might pacify, and two, something like that is completely unprecedented in a game as popular as Minecraft. Complete feature removal? Forget about it. Nobody is forcing you to use enchantments and potions.
.
Adding an XP bar does NOT, I repeat NOT turn Minecraft into an RPG. An RPG, to quote the dictionary, is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting and take those characters through a structured narrative or structured decision making.
.
Fantasy elements are often found in RPGs, but the reverse is NOT true. Fantasy != RPG. XP bar + minor fantasy elements does not and WILL NEVER equal an RPG in Minecraft, since Minecraft is completely devoid of a plot whatsoever.
.
Finally, at the end of the day, you have to give Notch and Mojang some credit for what they have accomplished. Minecraft has over 3 million users. If Mojang was making bad gameplay decisions, why is Minecraft one of the most popular video games of all time? Because Mojang knows what they are doing. The success of Minecraft is testament to it.
.
tl;dr: If you cannot come up with a completely valid reason for claiming that 1.9 ruins Minecraft, please keep your mouth shut.

In between :tongue.gif: If you installed Win7 64-bit and say 2GB more RAM it'd be even better.

Wanna build myself a custom case out of some old tech. Any suggestions? I was thinking Pikachu N64... (It's a small form factor mobo, so yh, pretty wide options)
Not really the best place to ask (you should make a thead for this) but drop the 1100T for the x4 955. There really isn't much increase in performance to be worth it. I've heard quite a few negative reviews about toshiba HDD's, you may want to consider a 500gb one from seagate of something.
I'm not sure if it'll fit in a N64 case though, the GPU is 12.5 x 4 x 23 cm in size, that motherboard is also 24.3 x 22cm. According to this, an N64 is 26 x 19 x 7.3cm in length, so it won't fit... Not to mention the CPU cooler...
Even if it does, make sure the airflow is good. If you want to use old tech for cases, getting some fans may be a good idea, since those products weren't desgined for such heat.
Oooft. Cheers for the reply.
My mate has the X6 1050 and highly recommends it, so I naturally have to get the 1090 for bragging rights. :wink.gif: But yeah, what about overclocking? How much could I be expected to eke out before having to fork out for a really good cooling system?
Also, I essentially went for the cheapest 1TB drive I could find with somewhat favourable reviews. And specific model I should consider (around the same price or cheaper)?
Also, the reason I was thinking of the N64 (or home consoles) was that they're already tailored for digital equipment and therefore should have decent airflow. Cheers for the research, and that site is pretty much exactly what I was looking for earlier today. :3
