I am a primary school teacher in charge of a Year 5 class.
I want to get Minecraft into the classroom and would appreciate any tips about how I can justify it to a headteacher. Also, any tips about how to get it up and running with a class of 29 kids would be awesome.
Maths is the area we really need to improve so I can't wait to hear your thoughts and ideas on the following:
1- Setting it up in a classroom (with 5 pc computers)
2- Generating/ enforcing rules
3- Selling the idea to the headteacher (key benefits)
4- Getting maths involved (Key Stage 2, year 5, ability levels 2-5)
5- Getting kids involved
6- Other points I have missed out
While yes this is the MC forum you need to talk to the schools IT dept. If you are trying to implement this right now mid year you are going to have a bad time. Due to time to get computers upgraded this should have been brought up as a plan that you want to do with the administrators and then seen if the tech dept would have the budget to upgrade your computers.
Chances are none of the computers are newer then a Pentium 4 and are running the bare minimum specs to be running Windows XP. So you are going to need new machines unless your school upgrades computers every few years and I doubt that they do.
