I just bought an Elgato Video Capture so I can record Xbox and Wii footage. The only issue is I need the console to be plugged into the TV and the capture device. I went to Radio shack for an output splitter but the they said that video can not be split and the thing they advised me to use was 40 dollars. What should I do?

What model is it? if it's still returnable i would take it back and get a Hauppage, much easier to set up and can record anything you throw at it, and easy to use
May do that but I want to see if I can use the elgato card.
it doesn't seem like it would work very well, it looks like it can't record as much as the Hauppage could, and it sounds like it's harder to set up as well, as with the Hauppage all you do is plug in the console an your done

EDIT which card do you have? if it's this one http://www.amazon.com/Elgato-Video-Capture-Device-10020840/dp/B0029U2YSA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334281298&sr=8-1 it will not be nearly as good as a Hauppage
