I've tried to download it 5 times now and my internet has dropped out everytime. I managed it on another computer but I need a USB to transfer it over. I'll give my two pennies when I have one later.
Send me a PM on steam or here, I'll throw up a torrent.
It's not your internet, their download servers keep going down.
Again, while I see where you are coming from and can appreciate your viewpoints, for most people, especially the enterprise market, this will just make people less efficient and cut down on productivity as a whole.
Good idea for home? Possibly. Although everyone I've had try it out was not able to get used to it in an hour or so.
Good idea as an optional theme? Yes. Definitely.
Good idea as the only UI available? No. Where is windows classic? Where is windows basic/7 Aero?
The point is they should not be restricting people like this. Where are the options?
Is there any way of exiting apps without having to alt+F4? Also the Xbox companion and other similar apps don't work for me because apparently the service isn't available in Canada, hopefully that gets fixed soon. Other than I have no complaints with Windows 8, I even find myself using it more than Windows 7 Ultimate which I have installed on an other hard drive. It seems to run much faster and smoother also.
The metro UI is a nice addition as well. Wasn't entirely impressed with it at first but after getting it a bit more organized I find it very useful.

Broodlords are like bacon: way too many is almost enough.
Well minor annoyance AMD Windows 8 drivers only support the 5xxx series and above so my laptops 3200 is being a pain and not wanting to work. Worked perfectly on my desktop. Also having issues with Windows 8 not getting settings correctly from the Windows 03 DHCP server.
WHY IS THE START BUTTON STILL GONE? THIS REALLY WAS NOT A BUG?
God dammit, this is going to make tech support a NIGHTMARE.
But wait, where is control panel? Where is everything else? Why are half the menu items gone? Why does it default to the metro UI on a desktop install? Does this not mean OEM installs are going to be metro?
This is terrible. Jesus christ, what the F**K is microsoft thinking?
Just... Wow.
This is unbelievable.
I do not even know where to begin.
Why? What the hell is MS thinking?
Task manager now defaults to this, which is completely useless:
I honestly don't see anything wrong with the new "start menu". It is ALOT better than what M$ has used since Vista. In fact you don't even need to go into the start menu for really anything, I installed it a day ago and only recently had to use it once...
I got lost in the consumer preview. I opened up the desktop environment, and I couldn't figure out how to get out. -.-
Bottom left hand corner... Top Left corner cycles through the apps have you used, and if you move your mouse down it will display all the apps that are currently in use. The top right hand corner displays a menu with: Search, Settings, Devices etc...
The fact is that using a mouse as an input device is not very efficient. It's a great tool, but you need to realise that you are constantly having to use quite precise and accurate movements in order to achieve fairly simple results. This has only got worse since the advent of commonplace high resolution (i.e., anything much above 800x600) displays. Mouse sensitivity used to top out at around 600DPI, meaning massively eased accuracy achievement versus some of the 5600DPI monsters you can buy nowadays.
The number of times I see people struggling to hit targets (buttons, text boxes etc) with a mouse is crazy - and nobody complains about it because they are so used to it.
That is a stupid generalization. If anything touchscreens are more inaccuarate and more people struggle to hit things (sometimes in part due to poorly designed interfaces). Perhaps the reason they are used to it is because it is so forgiving.
Anyway, my point is that mice are precice because many times you need precision. Try making a 3d model, playing a game, using a complicated program life FL Studio, or even selecting text to copy with a touchscreen. There is no quick, easy, reliable, and user friendly way to do it.
Sure you could develope an interface or way to do it on a touchscreen, but it would be inherently bigger and clunkier so to speak and therefore less effecient because a touch srceen cannot achieve the accuracy and precision and speed of a mouse.
Also, when people tell me that tablets or touchsreens are the future, it's like saying that everyone will be driving a Nissan Leaf. They are forgetting that some people actually have to get real world work done (Garbage trucks, construction vedhicles, etc.) instead of just getting from point A to point B. Now I'm not saying that this is what you meant, but it is a good thing to keep in mind.

Even my mouse at 1000dpi (it's a compact laptop mouse) isn't accurate enough for some stuff without doing manual text editing of dimensions. I try to be accurate, but it literally jumps about a pixel on the screen before I see movement (actually, now that I think about it, that may be a screen resolution issue).
However, even watching dimensions in modelling programs (which do move slightly more accurately than what the screen displays), I can't get the accuracy I sometimes want with the mouse.
Edit: A touch screen would never have the precision I want, and I haven't seen a tablet that could match the kind of precision I want either. (A stylus could get closer, but still not nearly what I want)

But you will still get better accuracy than touch screen.
This is what bothers me.
Maybe if the os goes rouge and against microsoft?
Like the killswitch for page industries nano-augmented agents?
It's not your internet, their download servers keep going down.
It took me around a dozen retries (not wireless) to get the thing to download completely because their servers kept going down.

OH GOD NO... I would rather just stick with Windows 7 :I
YET ANOTHER awesome feature is a "wipe everything and start over" button.
Again, why is metro not optional? Blargh. There are so many nice features yet you are fighting with the UI every step of the way in some cases.

I should have made that more clear in the post I guess, I was adding to what you said about how mice need that ridiculous precision.
