Most of the time people hate because they can't afford it, and people will argue saying this isn't the case and that there are other reasons. P.S. There aren't.
The only downside to ALienwares are the slightly reflective screen, and sometimes (depends on what graphics card you got) will not play well with minecraft, specifically getting under 10 FPS when something like Skyrim will be getting 100+. Other than that, not much too it.
People don't like them because they think that they overprice their parts like 2x higher than they're worth. But don't get me wrong, they are great computers!

They are 200-300% more expensive than they are worth, they have terrible components, they break easily, dell costumer support, ext. If you need a laptop, get asus or msi. Need a desktop, build your own.
Now, I understand that people like and dislike Alienware PC's. I am wondering why. I have no opinion on this, as it is just a mere question.
Sigh, another one of these.
Because they sell MID TO LOW RANGE hardware at a high premium.
They give you low to mid range graphics cards for the price of a flagship level graphics card.
Most i5s/i7s are low end dual/quad core i5s/i7s clocked at 1.7GHz.
They give you useless amounts of RAM.
Even the times where they do give you top of the line hardware, they pull an Apple and rack the price up 200%, 300%, sometimes even 500%!
They are only sold to gullible people and little kids who look at all the LEDs and go "oohh pretty it looks so cool it must be cool!"
If you do decide to go down this route avoid red LED fans, they cause the computer to heat up. Get a good mix of blue LED fans (to cool the computer) and white LED fans (to keep dust away) in your case. Do not use flickering/multicolor LED fans as they can cause dust to illuminectromagnetically stick to components.

Wow, what graphics card makes Minecraft run so crappy?
Wow, what graphics card makes Minecraft run so crappy?
Lol, maybe their older versions, but they have some of the best technology built into their computers. Look it up.
So does building your own, and their fastest most maxxed out pc cost more than the fastest home pc you could build, and I mean quad xfire 7970's, a 3960x, 128gb ram, ssds, ext. And if you built that it would kick the **** out of alienware.

No they are not. They have not been even decent computers since Dell bought them in ~2005.

No they are not.
The technology is the EXACT same as any parts you can buy on newegg. There is nothing different, save for the Alienware components are often low end and overpriced.
I don't need to look it up, I am an expert on the subject.
You have no idea what in the hell you are blabbering about.
For the price of a single (read: 1) top end Alienware (~$2,700-$3,100) you could get 2-3 top of the line high end gaming PCs.

i can tell it is not because i can't afford it. if that was the case i wouldn't have bought a mac with my own money.
also they can't run mine craft fast because the only good thing they have is graphics cards. look at the processors. they suck. i don't have any fancy schmancy gaming computer and i have a 2.5ghz i5.

False. There are TONS of reasons, as listed in my previous post.
If you honestly believe we "hate" for no reason, you are an ignorant idiot. We are the people who build/fix PCs either for a living of as a hobby, we know them in and out and can tell you for a fact that Alienware computers are essentially gokart engines in a BMW shell for the price of a Ferrari.
Do your own homework kid, us professionals know what we are talking about.

If your computer cannot play Minecraft, it is a crappy computer. This is a simple fact.
I cannot believe so many people think Alienware are any good. Just wow. Does no one do research before they buy anything expensive anymore?

What are you talking about? Are you 11 years old? And what are you talking about? Macs, alienwares, or what? Please speak English.

Yea- NO.
Even if you are rolling in Benjamins, that doesn't change the fact that for the same price as an Alienware, you could get something much better. Also, they have horrible cooling.

There are other reasons. They are hella expensive. I can actually afford one, just I know for that same value I can get a top of the line computer. Alienware computers are terribly built. On multiple accounts they burn up because of bad cooling. They are made by Dell, which is a pretty bad company for gaming stuff in my opinion.

If you can afford one, why is your current pc just kinda meh?

EDIT: Nevermind, fm got there first.
It looks fancy and dell says that it is the best you can buy. Why would you need to research that claim at all if it looks sick?

It is not meh. It is a good gaming system that can handle everything I throw at it. Plus I don't want to spend over $1000 dollars just to play games.
