Ok so i plan on getting a gaming headset soon. I'm going to start recording on youtube and on other games. I heard that turtle beach is just about the best of the best. What i was wanting is a headset that is comfortable, records crystal clearly, has clear sound to others listening on the games, and so that i can hear very well and clearly. I, again, also want something that's comfortable and i don't want it too bulky. I would prefer it to be wireless, but if its wireless i suppose that's fine (I'm not even sure if they make them both wired and wireless compatible, but if they do, then that'd be even better). Also one more thing, i'd like it if it was at the very most under 100$, but only if its truly necessary for all of that. So can anyone give me any suggestions? I kind of need to know in like, a day or two. Thanks.
Oh yeah and please only suggest one if you know what you're talking about :tongue.gif:
I don't want to waste any money or get one that's good enough.
I have a set of Turtle Beach X11's, and I love them. Feel great, record in great quality. and they're not too terribly bulky. And the best part is I got mine for about $60. Don't know if the price changed. I can hear others clearly as well, and that's nice. I'd recommend the X11's.

I have a pair of turtle beaches and they are about the sexiest things that I own <3. It depends on which one you get for the quality of the mic. Also turtle beach mics are very sound sensitive, so if your typing the mic may pick it up. The sound quality even on the 60$ ones are amazing, personally the turtle beaches are really comfortable. The 60$ I mentioned earlier are the X12's X12
If you want a wireless one there are these X32
they aren't out yet and 100$
You don't need a gaming headset if you are on a PC. Really, even a cheap 15 dollar headset will do you perfectly fine with noise canceling. Don't bother spending anything more then 40 bucks for gaming accessories in total. ESPECIALLY if you are going to just be doing this as a small Hobby. Leave the professional gaming stuff to the hard core gamers, or the professionals other wise you are wasting money.
Oh, quick note A lot of gaming heasets, even the hundred dollar ones have been known to be fragile.
Turtle Beach is an insanely expensive brand... while I have used them myself... I really don't like it that much. Then again I am no audiophile. Uh... the Mic is something stellar, but I have seen mics of the same quality on some cheaper models (Five bucks). It has 5.1 Speaker... which is nice... but it's not as good as one would hope for... you are talking about emulating space with sound through a five centimeter gap and last time I checked, it appears that the software usually does this on it's own with stereo type speakers quite well... and the way a subwoofer works, it is only great if it has a wide space to travel through... and it's in the corner of the room. Really logically you would still hear stereo audio that is just above a normal head set.
My advice... screw the high quality headsets if you aren't that serious about it, get a 15 dollar headset, a good mic, or a 20 dollar and under headset with a built in mic and noise canceling capabilities. This way... you only spent less then 40 if you decide to stop!

Their not expansive if you have a job, 60$ is chump change if you have one. A 15 dollar headset just wont have good enough quality, but thats just from my experience. Also Turtle Beaches aren't insanely expensive there very well priced for the quality of their headsets.
yes, i love my X11, very durable as i frequently find it nocked off of its resting place, and it still works like the day i opened it. although i think the X12's are the same price as the X11's, the X12 wasn't out when i bought mine :tongue.gif:

$40 for all of the peripherals??? :ohmy.gif:
I probably spent about $200 something, ~$60 on a wireless keyboard, $30 on a wireless mouse, $30 on a (cheap) webcam, and ~$70 on this wireless headset(which is really nice too :smile.gif: ). At least I think this is what I spent on those...
Probably could have gone without the speakers, but oh well... *Excluding the Ear Force X11's.
-Back On Topic-
I have a pair of Ear Force X11's. They are great, though I'm sure the Ear Force X12's work just as well. There's also the Ear Force Z1's which only work on the PC. It's only got 3 stars, though.
I have Turtle Beach Earforce X11's too. Great headset, excellent sound quality. Does lack a bit of noise cancelling, so having a noisy family in the background can be heard through the mic.
Other than that, the X11's are the best bang for your buck, for gaming headsets.
Well; I got a set of Logitech G35's; fit nice and snug around the ears,
5.1 surround sound.
Enclosed sets so no-one outside can hear whats playing inside
Mic does an okay job at cancelling outside noise.
Nice long cable (I can go from one side of my room to the other with a little stretch at the end)
My only gripe with this headset; is, its USB, so your sound-card becomes null-in-void. (Luckily top range gaming headsets have quite good inbuilt chips that can match soundcards, and at times beat soundcards quality)
--------------
The Plantronics 777 headset, again this headset is also an open eared headset; so it will eat your whole ear, meaning no sound will get out in gaps.
7.1 surround sound
Cables nice and long, but not as long as the G35's
It comes with an adapter (aka USB chipset soundcard; so it can use your USB port); or just put the Jacks into your soundcard; determining what one workds best for you will depend on movement(if you travel around with them); or if you rather have the best sound quality you can. (may take a bit of time and research [an hour or so] to work out what sound card is better[onboard or USB])
My gripes with this; is the volume control as it can get in the way at times, and it has a tendency to act the goat in both cold and hot weather.
-------------
And my final headset(that I have on me) AKG Q701;
The sound quality that comes from these beast is almost as pure as you can get with headsets all thanks to the quality of magnets used on the amps and the way the cables are made (only 0.01% air; the rest is all copper)
The cable comes in two lengths and are interchangeable as you see fit, and as stated before 99.99% no air inside the cables meaning only the best and purest of sound
If you do plan on getting these (only $380's now) you will also have to fork out for a dedicated amp and soundcard for the full range as it uses 62 Ohms(input) meaning that your basic generic sound card chips wont have the input required for these guys to sound their best.(most only require less then 45 Ohms)
My gripe with these are the fact its not an enclosed ear-set; so others can hear what your playing; also the bass could do with a little work; but these arnt made for DJs who like alot of bass music.
And no Mic included; so I use the "AKG 120 Perception USB Mic"

Oh, and I just ordered the steel series (Diablo3 headset)
Sorry I cant give any info on these, but I got it because im a massive Diablo fan :tongue.gif:

Oh that's just insulting. Maybe I do have a job? Maybe I am strapped on funds because I am paying for other stuff such as gas which is 40-50 bucks per tank? Maybe I barely get enough hours to make anything over 200 dollars? Maybe I can hardly tell the difference with the many headsets because I don't listen to digital sounds with the volume strong enough to blow my ears out. Maybe I don't feel that I have to spend 100 dollars for a headset to use with gaming when the 15 dollar headset I used with some minor modifications (Better ear pads) lasted me for several years without ever breaking or having a speaker go out? Maybe I am holding onto my money and not buying every single thing just to engulf myself in debauchery because I am planning ahead for something like... college? Watch what you say next time. Not everyone has the same ideas as you.
Also I passed the 40 Dollar Challenge
Optical Mouse 5 bucks
Headset - 15 bucks
Speakers - Free (Monitor)
Keybaord - included on computer.
This is what you want: Corsair Vengeance 1500 Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset - headset - Ear-cup, Binaural.
Maximum PC just gave it a kick ass this month and I took their advice, you can not touch this headset for the money, hands down. If you want something that sounds awesome, fits snug and comfortably, has a great mic and is really tough then this is what you want.
Maybe I am holding onto my money and not buying every single thing just to engulf myself in debauchery because I am planning ahead for something like... college?
While college can be helpful, it doesn't guarantee a high-paying job... :dry.gif:

I'd like to see links for these, I don't believe this...(unless everything was made by foxconn or something)
Also, what if you had to get all of these individually?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My livestream channel, gonna stream some arma (or other games)!
Garage Sell for the keyboard actually... and from it's IBM badge and thickness I'd say they had one of the old IBM personal machines that still had a floppy drive and a floppy zip. I never heard of foxconn. Also, you can find some pretty cheap mice online mine was from Newegg. As far as the headset is concerned, it's a walmart sold item (Not including sales tax because it varies state to state. Texas is 8.255) Walmart no longer carries Dynex Brand Headsets. I don't know why, they weren't made of flimsy plastic but the cups did keep falling off and were uncomfortable. SO I will point you to something else.
And while it doesn't garantee you a high paying job, it does garantee you a job that pays on salary and gives you a higher chance to be hired then that of someone with absolutely NO developed knowledge of the trade. Saying that college is pointless is like allowing a cave man give you a heart transplant
Anyways back to the point. He wanted a solution under 40, not for everyone to suddenly recommend turtle beach. I am only saying reduce your budget because chances are, your hobby will suddenly become abandoned when you get a heaping amount of work. While you could fork up 100 dollars, that adds up very quickly.
Oh yeah and please only suggest one if you know what you're talking about :tongue.gif:
