Allo chaps,
What is the worst viris you ever had?
for me it would have to be the viris that removed my theme settings and blocked my internet connection
that was a bad day
Worst for me was porn pop-ups and shortcuts to porn sites appearing on my desktop.. The main reason is because my computer is in the family room and we have a pretty full house and other people use it sometimes
I never have gotten a virus attack, but close to some, but they always got stopped without getting a step in.
Most annoying virus I have helped someone remove, and removed myself before "client computer". Is that virus known as the fake antivirus that literally destroys the operating system, a format is a must. There is many versions of it, but it was based on Clam something anti virus software. The virus itself cripples windows and anti virus software you have, then pay loads windows to prevent it from protecting itself and important files. Then if you reboot, it is on. It will then take total control, attempt to send and remote out your windows serial key, windows protects that the best it can. Then it nags the heck outta ya to buy a key to remove fake viruses, which are actually windows files it needs YOU to authorize removal of to allow the virus to take complete control and then there is no recovery hope. Only method, total format or HDD wipe.
One of the worst viruses you can ever encounter, but there is worse. The bios destroying ones are the worst tbh...
Me personally? Nothing really bad, worst I've gotten was a backdoor trojan that spammed me with popups but it didn't even work correctly so it was easy to get rid of. This was probably, what, when I was 11?
Customers on the other hand? Probably a horrible piece of ransomware that formatted the hard drive if an amount wasn't paid or if I attempted to remove it.
Protip: This cannot happen and they do not work if you just throw the infected drive onto another computer (use linux or it will jump to the attatched windows or mac PC) and get rid of it manually.
One that almost blocked every program. I managed to stop that, kill it, and it left me with a BSoD. So I had to system restore. THIS IS WHY I USE NOSCRIPT.
Some fake anti-virus that over took anything, thank you for safe mode with networking Microsoft.

Win7. I have gotten it twice. On this computer and my grandma's. I got them both from this website when it first went up. It disables your internet and firewall, and says it is your firewall. It tells you it has expired and you need to pay like $300 so you can get the full version, which installs more crap.

i had the same one, malwarebytes + TDSSKiller works wonders
The only virus i got was when it changed my backround to plain black and I couldn't change it, Then popups everywhere! I removed it with mcafee though.
On the other hand, I got SpySheriff, System Tool (or something), and AntiVirus Gold all at once, and that took me at least three hours to fix it, manually.

Hey look another ignorant user.
Linux machines and macs are not exempt from viruses.
Yeah, yeah, I know that. It just so happens that 99% of viruses are developed for Windows.
