Meh, well, that seems pretty cool, bu-HOLY **** 16 GIGS OF RAM?! THAT'S 4X MY LAPTOP!
I was planning to get it to 32GB when 16GB gets somewhat outdated lol. Trust me, this computer should last me a few years before it gets somewhat outdated by company built, high-end futureshop/bestbuy/walmart computers.

If it is over the next summer Ivybridge will be realsed then.
Going to be more energy efficeny and faster and better overlockers.
Samething with the graphics card AMD and Nvidia will have new archs out by then AMD for sure Nvidia probbly.
AMD new arch plans to have massive improvements over the old. no more ddr ram replacing it with xdr ram and not using VLIW any more and will move over to GCN. It will be more similar to Nvidia arch and be better for gpgpu computing.
Get less RAM and an i5-2500k (preferably Ivy Bridge equivalent), and put that money into a better graphics card. You won't need more than 8GB and the i5 unless you are frequently doing video editing.

I'm thinking of sticking with the current build, mainly because the 2600k will go down in price over time, I'm thinking of probably getting something better as the prices will most likely drop, so probably 2700k or 3930k in that case. Also I'll upgrade to a GTX 570, that is if prices drop.

thats mainly what I'll be doing, video editing and more editing, perhaps some gaming over time. I'm considering taking editing in the future as a course/out of school activity.
Also I'll be sticking to PC gaming, after the Xbox 360 and PS3 get outdated (judging that I have both).

With a budget of $1,600 you should be getting a better GPU then a GTX 560 Ti. Seems kind of odd to post a build that you might not even build for a year. You probably won't even end up using this build by the time you have the money. Better parts will be out and prices change a bunch in that amount of time.

I'm trying to go for somewhat of a cheap build, this build is actually 1.3k, I kind of overestimated, I'll most likely get a GTX 570.
Thanks for the reply, perhaps by the time I have 1.6k I could get even a better build because of the new products. Greatly appreciated :3.

Should be less as I'm buying it in 2013/2012, depends on whether I can afford it sooner/later.
