Good luck finding a cheap one, man. Pretty much the only way that you'll be able to get one cheaper than that price, is to get one secondhand. Which is pretty much a BIG no-no.

If you notice that my post count is low, it's because I don't post often. I lurk.
You can still find cheap hard drives at local stores at least around my area you can. You might think about getting a aftermarket cooler. Possible a copy of windows if you don't already have one. It's a decent build better present then I ever got when I was a kid.
Though I don't like ASRock as much as the big 3 (ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI), I do like the fact of upgradability, which you get with the PCI-E 3.0 slots. Plus, Z68 chipset as well, all the features of P67, and more.
I understand the rebate part makes it cheaper which is good but i don't think you understand they are the exact same unit. Just like certain XFX, Antec, silverpower, Arctic Cooling, older PC Power and Cooling models all use this same unit in different models. So, they both perform the same. For an example the AX 750 is a re-brand of the Seasonic X 750.
It looks good, the RAM could probably be cheaper and I've heard some iffy stories with the Antec cases and how some models mount the HDDs but overall it looks fine.
Your processor is cheaper at Micro Center by about $40
Are you sure this is the online price? Usually their CPU and mobo deals are in-store pickup only.

It is in-store pick up only, but if there is one pretty close to you, you may as well get most of your parts there. Micro Center price matches Newegg, you can drive to there store if you need anything returned, and you can actually talk to someone who will probably know a fair amount about whatever you want to do. Just a suggestion though.
And I guess that's not too bad with the pricing, either. My parents aren't separated, so I wouldn't know how the whole Christmas-gift thing works out.

I wish I had a MicroCenter or even a Frys near me..... :sad.gif:

Yea, even at best buy there was a 1TB HDD with 32MB of cache and it was like ~$100 but I might be wrong about the specs didnt look too closly

Bummer that HDD prices have tripled though. I'm gonna have to look for areas to cut costs for the pc I'm building my little brother ><
Yeah I told my mom she should look for that hard drive on ebay or something. It's because of the flooding where they are built.

I just trust Corsair a lot more, iunno.

There's no noticeable difference between 1600 and 1333, plus, it doesn't match with your motherboard.

You don't need the extra cache, rather would have an extra 250GB, no?

I still think Corsair is better. Plus, rebate.

Other than that... I don't know why your parents would buy you a $1000 Christmas present.

Closest of either is a 4-5+hr drive.
Oof. I have one half an hour away.

Most of these drives are only 1.5Gbps SATA and 3Gbps SATA, rather than the modern 6Gbps equiv.
