Minecraft and the original Doom are about the only games I play on the PC. But since I'm on a ThinkPad with integrated graphics, Minecraft runs like absolute crap. I'd like to get a desktop, but whenever I try to assemble a parts list myself, I can never get the cost much under a thousand.
So, if Minecraft is the most strenuous thing I will be running, can anyone really give me a list of parts that come to only $400?
it shouldn't be that hard to make a comp for less then $1000 and still run minecraft mine cost around $500 and it can run minecraft at fancy graphics and far render distance with almost no lag at all plus a ton of other games on almost max setting
I think we have been over it in these forums, falcons guide is terrible.
For linking a quick "x tier build will cost about x much" in one image it's fine.
Not sure why everyone jumps at the chance to scream "OH GOD ITS TERRIBLE". No PC building guide is meant to be followed strictly, this one especially is just a general outline that's regularly updated. If there's something better for a quick link of this purpose I'd like to see it.
Does this count as integrated graphics? Will that affect Minecraft performance?
edit: nvm I misread your post. So APUs will run the game better than integrated will?

Yes it will. I can run minecraft on a integrated HD radeon 3200 it has 40 AMD stream processors, that cpu has 400.
Here you can see it vs a phenomx4 with a traditional IGP in Starcraft.
very easily if you don't play on using Windows and you already have things like a monitor, keyboard, mouse and maybe some internal stuff like Optical drive and maybe a HDD.
Trying to get games written for windows to work on a Linux machine is like trying to put a diaper on an incontinent buffalo. Sure, you might get it all done, but you'll certainly be left with a huge mess, and it's very time consuming.

Yeah, I totally agree. I've seen so many people (not on this forum though) go like "I saw the thing on Tom's Hardware/Techspot/Random Thread so I'm going to buy that."
"But that build is terrible! It's just a guideline!"
Then the OP comes back and doesn't listen to arguments while other people argue whether or not guides like those are perfect.

Minecraft should have no problem running on even low end computers nowadays.
but i dont know exactly what parts i have
AND buy this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=869628&Sku=P450-6772
That will run minecraft with about 250FPS+ easily.
And any other game you can think of. ( just about, don't expect it to run Crysis on high )
There ya go:)
Bulldozer CPUs are horrible, especially for the price.
What? What are you going on about?

Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.

One more question, though. If I were to use Optimine's 3x view distance, how much better of a computer would I need?
APU can match low end discrete graphics.

That is very, very, very old troll copypasta from when the guide was first made on /g/.
Minecraft can definitely be played with a 400$ computer build.
