The only AMD processor worth recommending at your budget leveling is a Lano because it has a graphics card built in thats plenty for playing minecraft. I3 are good processors there better then the Athlon 2s. Also you can't unlock extra cores on Athlons because there not there that was a deal with the early processors.
The I3 has much better CPU performance but the Lano can be cheaper because you don't have to get a graphics card.
Llano is similar to the Athlons, Llano it has a slightly improved cpu. It has a GPU built into the cpu that will vastly out perform any IGP on a motherboard.
The phenom II with a real graphics card will be better than the lano. You can actually try and unlock two extra cores out of that. It's not a one hundred percent guarantee, but its possible to get a 4 core out of that.

Ya if you are getting a dedicated card Lano will be vastly out performed. Core unlocking is very very very rare now only in the early days was it reliable way of unlocking extra cores. That and the extra cores were disabled usually because they were unstable and might require extra voltage on the cpu. Overclocking is a better way to get extra performance.

Its worth a shot though. I know _j03_ unlocked his phenom II X2 555.
Looks good should be able to play minecraft. Other games well depends what games any game thats a console port you will play fine like the Call of duty series. Depending on the resolution but from just looking at the Battlefield min req you might be able to play with that Graphics card might hold you back. If you really wanted to play bf3.
That MOBO is out of stock right now. Other than that looks like a swell build. Be careful with a case tho. Make sure it will work for you. other than that good luck

hmmm... I didn't even know there was a such thing as a Lano...
It is socket FM1 though, I am probably going to get an AM3+ board with this Athlon II

Which of the two would be better?
Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.
I have always wondered, is it pronounced Pheeenom or Phenom? some people say Pheeenom and some say Phenom

I meant the budget for the whole build I can help you out
Agreed, here is how I tier the motherboards
Tier 1, high quality, less DOAs, better overclocking - ASUS, Gigabyte
Tier 2, Good quality, DOAs uncommon, average overclocking - msi, ASRock
Tier 3, Terrible quality, DOAs more common, overclocking - Everything else

Motherboard
CPU
GPU
RAM
(The rest I already have)
Anyone know what I will be able to do with this PC or what games I will be able to play?

But for most games you should be able to play them if your willing to deal with 0 eye candy.
