I was searching random sites for my area and found a computer for sale. It is a Compaq Presario S4000V. They included the specs, so my question is, are these any good?
Pentium 4 2.2 GHrtz
1.0 GB RAM (1023 MB)
149 GB internal harddrive
Radeon 9600 128 MB standalone video card, w/ VGA AND DVI output
Creative EMU10K1 Audio processor with 5.1 surround sound
32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium
New, low-profile IDE cables
6 USB ports (4 back, 2 front)
19 inch LCD flat panel Westinghouse monitor (4:3 aspect)
Wireless Logitech keyboard/mouse combo
DVD RW drive
CD RW drive
Ethernet card
It's 200 dollars, and thats WAY better than what I was going to save up for.
The author of this sale also posted a few notes, so if any of this affects anything, please tell me.
-With the exception of the motherboard/processor and power supply, I think all of the hardware has been upgraded from the factory equipment.
- I recently re-installed Windows, so the only things that are installed currently are all of the Windows updates and a basic anti-virus program.
- Computer runs perfectly and quickly. The only reason I'm selling is that I am going back to school (damn you economy!) and I need a laptop.
- The Radeon video card is awesome, and can handle the most graphics intensive games (Half Life 2, COD, etc.).
- The video card also has two outputs (one VGA, one DVI), so you can run side-by-side monitors (this may sound unnecessary, but trust me it's great!). I also have a VGI/DVI adapter if you want.
- The beauty of a desktop is that it's very easy to upgrade specific components should you want to at a later date.
- I have most/all of the original documentation, as well as driver installation CD's for the various components.
- This is a genuine, non-pirated, copy of Windows, so you will be able to download software updates, etc.
- I will include all the necessary cables, cords, power adapters, etc. that you will need to immediately get the computer up and running.
I'd really like to know so I can continue saving for another computer or if I should get this one.
I actually have my old computer with nearly those exact specs. The card is an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 512mb
Make sure to download the catalyst drivers for the GPU and that's a pretty fine computer for 200 dollars.
Edit: Also, ask if he has Windows XP. The GPU works better on Windows XP as it supports Direct X 9 and isn't as intense in the background while playing games.
Edit #2: This is bringing back some good memories. I don't know how much I am telling you to buy this computer, it's worth it.
honestly? if you can put up with a CRT instead of an LCD you can get way the hell better then that for that much cash.
I'm selling one of my old machines to a friend for $200 without monitor and it's a dual core 3.2GHz (it's based on two prescott/p4 cores so it's performance is much more akin to 2.2GHz dual core of other CPUs) Pentium D 840 for the curious.

am2 x2 2.2GHz with 4GB on 15/3 comcast home connection hosting two private minecraft servers on windows 7 x64
will that even run minecraft? o.e (well i think it will but itll lag?)
I was running minecraft on my old computer with 1 ghz processor and 512 MB of ram. Of course it lagged, because of my processor.
For 200$, with the screen included, thats a fair price, i guess.

Wouldn't really pay even 200$ for that personally. You can build many many many times better one by yourself if you save about 500$.
You can build him a computer for $200 and save him $500? Explain how this is possible. I'd like to get back $300 when building a $200 rig.
He meant "if you have (save up to) 500 $, you could build one many times better"

Do not expect to play CoD 4 or higher though.
