I am looking for a good Anti-Virus, worthy to put money in(Not yet though, too young).
I know that you should avoid couple AV such as AVG, McAfee, and Bytefences.
The best strategy against viruses and other exploits is, to have a good backup of anything important.
In my experience, anti-virus and associated softwares (firewall, child-safety blockers, anti-malware, etc) are responsible for a huge number of problems with games.
I'm reasonably careful about sites that I visit, but I don't worry too much because there is nothing at all important on my gaming PC. If I do get some nasty stuff that I can't remove, I can just wipe it and restore from a backup (takes about 10 mins).
Background, I've worked in IT security for about 20 years.
Software firewalls (in the sense of an app running on the same machine you use to run other programs, rather than a stand-alone device) are almost useless. And no anti-virus software can catch everything, because there are new exploits coming out every day. Sometimes, using them can lead to a false sense of security. Often, they cause unexpected problems with 'false positives' or blocking legit programs (such as, Minecraft).
