I'm really torn on this one, I appreciate the freedom of linux but since I finally threw ubuntu on my laptop I've run into more fiddly little problems that take an hour to troubleshoot than I ever had with windows 10. Plus the whole gaming thing, I've kept windows on my desktop for almost exclusively that reason.
On the other hand what really pushed me to try linux in the first place were some of the decisions Microsoft has been making recently, yeah I can turn off all the data collection and ads in windows 10 (and I have) but imo they shouldn't be there in the first place. Just charge me once for the operating system and leave me alone, you've managed to make that work up until now. What changed?
Windows 7 was probably the best for me, but as somebody who soon wants to delve into cyber security or digital forensics, I want to try Kali Linux for the pen testing capabilities.
I was under the impression that Windows 10 is the least popular OS that Microsoft has released besides maybe 8 and 8.1.
Maybe, but it seems quite prevalent among the less tech-savvy community, I've seen many an old laptop with Windows 10. But there are tech people who like it too.
Windows 7 (IMO Vista is better looking) and Xubuntu
Intel Xeon X5670 (6c/12t) @ 4.4GHz, 24GB DDR3, GTX 1080, 500GB, 250GB, 120GB SSD, 2x 4TB HDD and 2x 2TB HDD
Windows 10

I like Windows 7, I feel like everyone likes Windows 10, I don't; it looks drab and austere, it also seems to crash more often.
Just curious, that's all.

I've only ever used Windows xp, 7, 8, and 10. I like Windows 10 the best.
