Hello, I would like someone to test the website I recently made. It's a message board type, nothing advanced - topic posting and commenting. It's here - link.
Edit 1: I'm hosting the website on my home computer, so it is unavailable during night in my time zone - GMT+2.
Well.. it's a start. I'd concentrate on aesthetics now.
Also, you need a way for people to edit their posts. Your mail confirmation seems pointless, it doesn't contain any link to let your server know it is a valid email address. Simply not receiving a bounce is not a way to check for valid email. I just noticed that I am logged in yet the registration and login links are still on the menu. Why is logout a button and not a link like the rest of the menu?
Also your example posts are less than helpful since the code is not actually shown. Wrap the code in <xmp> tags to prevent it from being rendered.

Editing posts can be enabled through my administration page for a user group, it's just the group you start with has editing disabled.
The example posts are there just to show that one can embed media stuff and such. The code is visible in the browser's developer tools, isn't it?
Regarding mail address, it is user's choice to give a real address or fake - I will receive notification if the mail can't be delivered to that address.
It's down for me, but I saw the screenshots from Google Web Cache thing, and it seems to plain. But I guess it's pretty new, so no need to be nervous about people giving constructive criticism. Try and add more decorations to make it more exciting and appealing.

Yea, but the point of an example is to teach. Why make people mess around with the console just to see how to do it?
As for mail, if you don't care if it's real or not why waste time sending a "verification" email at all? It's pointless if it doesn't check back in to let the db know it's legit.

Well, not sure how others do it but what I do is I have a field in my user table called vfycode. When a new account is created, I set vfycode to some sort of data string, like an md5 of the user table index / username or something. I then shoot an email off to the submitted address with a link like www.mysite.com/verify.php?g=(user table index)&v=(data string). When the user clicks the link, it checks if the user account in the db with the passed index value has a vfycode matching the passed data value. If it does, I set vfycode to null.
Then my login function, after validating credentials, will check if vfycode is null. If not, it doesn't allow login and shows a "please verify your email first" message.

I tried accessing the website you linked but in mine, it said CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
I should mention that the website is not available during night for my time zone - GMT+2.

How would you check whether an address is legit?
