1. Java actually isn't safe. I would recommend using the launcher that does not require Java.
2. If your downloading mods. My tip is to ONLY download of the Minecraft Forum. That way you know it is virus free as there is alot of other people that have downloaded it off here.
3. I do agree less computer-literate adults may blame video games for viruses. It's like this,
Bob likes to collect rocks, but one day he caught the flu. His mum confiscated all his rocks because they muuussssttt have caused the flu :/

plus you cant win the argument cus they are adults especially your a teenager or a kid....
That moment you realize 99% of PC problems can be fixed by proper user maintenance / care though.
plus that HP laptop always got toasted by playing it.... plus it has an AMD cpus and gpu in it... NOT apu cus its an athlon...
cus we dont have budget to buy a cheap anti virus at that time....

There are a TON of good free AVs out there. MBAM, MSE, Avast! Etc.
OH i forgot to say that i have bitdef total sec after i posted this thread....
is bitdef a good AV?
