So I want to buy my own website domain name, and I was planning to through the new Google Domains mainly because the cost is pretty low ($12/year for a .com domain). Google Domains can connect with other website-building sites to help create a nice, functional website. I was looking through some website builders, and I like how Weebly works. I like the simple designs that I can create as well as the easy drag-and-drop functionality.
To register your site with your own domain rather than a yourwebsite.weebly.com domain, you must pay for an upgraded version, the cheapest being $4.08 per month for a year, coming to $49 for one year.
Are there any ways/sites that will allow me to build a website and use my custom domain name without having to pay an extra fee? If there's not, I will likely stick with Weebly and I may upgrade in the future, as I really do like the simplicity of it all.
Got it, thanks. Like I said, I personally like Weebly, and their first upgrade tier is, for one year, $49. From what I've seen, that's not too much, but are there any cheaper services out there that are as good, or should I just go with Weebly? I don't need a ton of features really, I would really only need the ability to link my custom domain with the Weebly-created website.
Wordpress, I'd say, is objectively the best service to use for small sites and blogs. You can use a .wordpress domain for free, you can register a domain name through Wordpress for £12 (which is about $20) per domain, per year. You can also use a domain you already own for £9 a year (which is about $15). You can also host the site on your own server (or PC, if you really want to) with XAMMP.
It really depends on what kind of site you're after. If you're after an e-commerce site, something like Weebly, Moonfruit, or Magento is going to be your best bet (though Wordpress is still a viable option, with WooCommerce). If you're going for an information type site or a blog site, give Wordpress a try. You can always test the water with the free version, and then decide between Weebly and Wordpress.
What I will say is Wordpress can be a bit daunting at first, but there's somanyfreeonlinetutorials to follow to help you get your head around it that it's worth it.
Wordpress is fine if you plan to never learn anything, since you have to buy skins or their widgets, or else there's customizibility is simply not worth the effort.

Most plugins and themes are free. At any rate, it's better than using PHP.
Maybe this is a bad way of doing it but you could buy the domain, then host a redirecting site on it where the page loads and you redirect the user to your website builder site thing, though it would likely be more expensive as you also have to buy hosting for the original domain.

You can just point your domain at the websitebuilder...
