As the title says, I'm looking for some of the best places to buy computer parts at..I used to think Newegg and Amazon were the only sites that you should order from, but I realized that they're not even close to the best..I want to get computer parts cheeply..even if I have to get them refurbished...Here's my spec list:
Optical Drive: Really any cheep one..I'll find a cheap one on Ebay or something.
Total: $540.93
I already have a case, and my budget is around 450-550 bucks..Preferably 500 or lower. Just tell me the best sites to buy each of these parts on. Also, I will be using Linux, (Please don't tell me it sucks, and to get Windows) and I'll most likely pick up a Windows key somewhere in the future...(I would do this on my other thread, but it died off)
I typically go Amazon nowadays since I have Prime. I've used Newegg a lot in the past, and TigerDirect once. Can't say I've experience with any other e-tailers.
I wouldn't recommend newegg imo. I ordered 2 day shipping on monday and I didn't get it until next tuesday.
Hmm, I ordered twice with Newegg. First time I ordered with the normal free shipping on Monday, and I got everything on Thursday. Second time I ordered everything on Wednesday with the 2 Day shipping, and I got everything on Friday.
Must be bad luck for you or something
That's closer to $650 before rebates. Also, do yourself a favor and get a card that's designed to last, with a proper cooler and no coil whine.
Amazon delivers to pretty much any western or European nation. You might have to pay for shipping, but it's also often cheaper than buying stuff locally.
What card do you recommend? I would like to play at medium to high settings..and I don't want to pay a ton of money..
Also, should I go with the 270x instead? I can get the power cooler one for 160 bucks..
anyone in UK is OverclockersUK. There forum is worth checking if you want good computer info and help as well (You also get free haribo in most if not all orders)
I was gonna design my pc with their configs but they lack variety.
No, avoid Powercolor (or TUL in general) if possible. Go for Asus/Gigabyte/MSI/Sapphire instead. You're going to have a pretty hard time cutting that build down to $550 without changing most of the components.

The price raised for the 280..should this do well? I'm pretty sure I have a 1920 by 1080 monitor that is capable of playing video quality at 720p. It's somewhere around that length..it might be 1050, not 1080..it's also a 21 inch..also, I'll pick up an optical drive..

I generally use Scan or Amazon for stuff in the UK, Aria is also good if you're just buying a CPU, they seem to have all the greater deals in single components.

Not Australia.
Hey everyone, I'm back!
They ship a fair amount of computer stuff to australia now actually. Shipping price usually makes it not worth it though - it can get very expensive.
