As a matter of fact, is it illegal to update unlicensed OS?
yes, you have to buy a valid copy of windows, we cannot help you with unlicensed products that are illegal, other than telling you that it is in fact illegal

windoge 8 has the saddest excuse for a BSOD, it just tells you the type of error, no stop code, no nothing, just "something went wrong, all your unsaved work has now been lost to the void that is volatile memory"

Of course, I did not update it. If it is updating automatically, I found the way to make it unsuccessful because it is unlicensed.
How do you have a warranty if your OS is unlicensed?
probably a computer he got from a freind that still had the warrenty and the friend removed the license key

Since you're unwilling to shell out for the operating system you are using, you have basically two options:
1 - Keep on using it until things stop working.
2 - Look into a free Operating System. There's plenty of Linux OS's out there for no charge. Mind you, many programs for Windows won't work and running the system is a much larger chore.

Good luck!
Mac OSx won't work with Windows file type. I remember that.

linux will, I use it all the time for my small server and it can read NTFS just fine NTFileSystem is the windows filesystem that you claim OSX doesn't support, it does unless you are talking about programs. those won't work without a thing called WINE, which can run some windows programs, but I wouldn't advise you use it for gaming or anything intensive

Keep in mind that there is very limited success running OS X on "pc platforms", as it were. It works with much less hardware than most people assume it does.
The person who would be savvy enough to run OS X off of a "Windows" laptop wouldn't be asking the question posed by the OP in the first place.

The Linux kernel will run on pretty much everything you can put it on. I've had great success with Ubuntu personally, I'm running it on both my LE1700 and a custom build with an AMD FX-6300/Asus Mobo/Sapphire Dual-X R9 270, also had it running on my older pc (AMD Athlon x2 with a Radeon 2400)
Just because it has Windows to begin with, doesn't mean that you can't put Linux on it. And yes WINE is a bit tricky to play with, however there is a massive user base that has been playing with it and trying to figure out how to get most of the Windows programs working for it.
Best of luck to you.
(edit: Also I think you've mistaken Mac OS and the various Linux OSs, While they are both kinda like siblings as they were both born from UNIX, Mac OS is a proprietary OS which has been modified extensively and heavily to keep everything in Apple's court. Linux is in it's nature Open Source, thus people have been tinkering with it and created it's vast wealth of awesome for the great price of free. In fact Steam is working on making their own variant of Linux!)

I had 12 months warranty into it.

Mac OS X isn't free either.
I'm not sure why you can afford OS X, but can't afford Windows.

But all of our computers are Windows.

If by that you mean yet another fork of Debian, sure.
