A couple of years ago I bought Minecraft for my girls. I haven't done much with the product - just let the girls have at it. I know both were able to play the game online.
Then some account(?) migration event happened. Ever since, one of my girls can no longer play Minecraft except for the Demo. When I checked things out with her, in logging into the Mojang site there are no games listed under My Games. I've submitted her email address and even a prior one to get any associated IDs sent to those in the event the other email account was used - neither email address received user information.
Previously I had my girl email support asking for help. They never responded. That was a while ago. Now that she wants to get active in the game again, I thought I'd step in. I emailed support. No response. Does Mojang ever respond to support requests???
I'm very frustrated at the silence from support. I believe something went wrong during the account migration (seeing as she states she's never been able to login since going through the process) or somehow the profile got detached from the email address.
Short of buying the game for a second time (which, given the lack of support, I currently don't trust Mojang enough to do), what are the other options to fix this situation?
Well I did get a response eventually. Scripted reply, but there was a useful tip on how to retrieve the Transaction ID if that was lost. I was able to go back to the transaction date on my PayPal account and locate the info from there. Phew - now to see what they can do with it.
Here's the email I received in case this helps others:
I'm sorry to hear that you cannot log in. If you have a Mojang account (you log into your account with your email address), and need to change your password, you can do so from https://account.mojang.com/password. To change your email address, log into your Mojang account and visit https://account.mojang.com/me/settings. If you do not remember your username, log into your account and you can find it listed under the column "Profile Name".
For an older Minecraft account (you log in with your username), you can change your password at www.minecraft.net/resetpassword. If you would like to migrate your Minecraft account to a Mojang account, you can do so at https://account.mojang.com/migrate. Doing so will give you additional security options, and the ability to change your email address.
If you do not remember your username, you can visit www.minecraft.net/retrievename to automatically request an email with your username.
If none of the above solves your problem, we would be happy to change your password and/or email address so that you can log in, but we will need your transaction ID as proof of account ownership. For information on how to locate your transaction ID, please see http://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/articles/361380.
Best regards,
That last paragraph may have done the trick. Fingers crossed.
