I've been working on a Borderlands Mod for some extra modding practice for the last week. I wasn't planning on releasing it, but it's turning out much better than I expected. I know there are other Borderlands mods being worked on, and really don't want to steal anyone's thunder, especially as a solo modder. But what do you think? This is what I have already:
Randomly generated pistols. (Colored rarities (white to orange like in Borderlands), manufacturers, pellets per shot, recoil, damage, elemental effects (shock, slag, explosive, fire, and corrosive), icons, and clip capacity)
Custom potion effects. (Currently only shock)
Psychos and Midget Psychos with randomly chosen levels from 1-5.
Eridium ore generation, eridium bars, and eridium fragments. (Going to be used in trades possibly)
Money and ammo stats for the player. (Seperate ammo for all 6 weapon types)
Instant health drops, like Health Now, and other pickups.
I plan on working on the other 6 weapon types, grenades (regular, transfusion, mirv, etc), shields (with effects like nova and spike damage), a few more gun stats like accuracy and fire rate, loot chests, hopefully a few more mobs, and hopefully skills.
But like I said, I was only working on this mod for the experience, and whether or not I release it, I am still going to eventually add all the above for myself for practice. I just really don't want to put out a mod other people are working on if that's not okay. And even if it does turn out okay, this is not a promise to release this it, but I'll definitely think about it.
EDIT: Well, all yes so far. I think I might put it up in WIP section, even if I'm not going to finish it, might as well let people use what I've made so far. But definitely going get through a bit more before I do that.
lol if you released it I would deffinately get it. I love borderlands but don't have the PC to run it and I don't want to get it on console. This would fill that gap in wanting it a little bit xD

maybe post your mod in the "WIP" section post a few pics etc ... no need for download just yet until you think its ready
if you want some people to test it for bugs you could give some people a download link or you could upload a pre release
I think I might just end up doing that.
To everyone else, I guess I more or less wanted a feel for if it was ok to work on a mod that would be directly competing with another, and I do tons of projects here and there and consider it more as experience for the future rather than something I'd think about actually releasing. Like I said in the first post, this has turned out much better than I thought it would, which is why I decided to ask.

Developer of the Ice Cream Sandwich Creeper Mod, the (WIP) Borderlands Weapon Mod, and the "You Will Die" Mod!
gl but my advice is don't release a very uncomplete mod (i can't say if yours is or not tho) as most people will get bored of it faster but it's a very good idea to talk about what your working on as you did in this post
Definitely getting a few more things in before I even think about releasing it. For example, from the time I created this thread, I just finished reloading, going to spruce up the ammo gui a little (right now its just plain text on the top left), and get in loot chests so you can actually find the weapons, even if its just pistols right now (though a large variety of pistols). I learned a fair bit from releasing my first mod (Ice Cream Sandwich Creeper Mod), so I'm definitely going to use that experience towards this mod.
