Hi! My 7yr old loves playing this game. We recently purchased the PC version coming from ipad ver because my son wants to play with mods. I don't know how to play this game and my son does not know much about computers so we are struggling how to install the mods. He is particular with the Endangered Mods. He likes animals so much that's why he wants is mod. Our problem is we cant seem to figure out how to make this mod work. Honestly, this is our first time to install a mod. We followed instructions from this forum and also from the video from youtube but we are still not successful. Does the endangered mod work on the latest version of Minecraft? What other animal mod can you guys suggest to make my son enjoy this game.
If your son likes animal mods, I woul recommend Mo creatures, it has a lot of animals, he would love it. Here is the link: <link removed>
Please do not link to such sites, they illegally distribute mods under their own adf.ly link. Most of them also falsely state that a mod is updated, when the files they distribute are not. If you want to download Mo' creatures, please get it from the official thread here.
Mo' creatures is still at minecraft 1.4.7, as they are still working on porting to 1.5.1 and adding more content to the mod.
You can play Mo"Creatures but the custom mob spawner has not been updated so you can still play it. But the animals and mobs will spawn randomly without your consultant. Anyway look out for outdated false mods. Go to http://www.minecraftdl.com/ they keep things up to date:) good luck Oh and you can also use atomos mobs mod. Im not sure if they updated yet?
I'm not sure if Endangered Animals is updated to 1.5.1 so that might be the problem.
The other animal mods that I'm aware of: Mo' Creatures - still 1.4.7, with a 1.5.1 dev/bugtest available. Adds lots of animals, some tough monsters, and rideable horses, ostriches and elephants. AtmosMobs - also still 1.4.7, he's rewriting the mod to work for 1.5.1. Adds lots of animals. Project Zulu - 1.5.1 now available. Adds mostly animals, a few monsters, some new potions, rideable horses, and dangerous structures to explore. Fossils & Archeology - 1.4.7 for now, they're trying to get that fully functional before updating. Adds dinosaurs, sabertooths and mammoths by digging up DNA from fossils, which you cultivate to make dino eggs you can hatch.
Some things to consider:
You could downgrade to a previous version of Minecraft to use the mods that haven't updated yet. The Minecraft Wiki has a long page of all prior versions of the game, links to the files go directly to minecraft.net (the official files). Scroll down until you find the version you want, then on the righthand side of the table, click the Client download link. If you downgrade, make sure you also download the correct versions of the mods!
All of the above mentioned mods work together in 1.4.7 (and probably will in 1.5.1), but you might need to fine tune things to fit your tastes... mods can sometimes have unexpected effects when used together. Consider using Mob Spawn Controls or another mob spawning mod, especially if you choose to use Mo'Creatures alongside other mods. Using a mob spawning mod, you can even set the dinosaurs from Fossils & Archeology to spawn naturally.
Finally, a word of caution. Mods are great for the content they add, but as I said can conflict or cause issues with other mods. When adding new mods, do it one at a time, testing each mod by loading a test world to make sure things are working correctly, then add the next mod. This will help you figure out which mod may be causing an issue, and typically searching that mod's forum will give you a solution to the problem.
I hope your son has a lot of fun playing the game and seeing all the creatures! Good luck, and be sure to ask on the forums if you have a question. The community here is (mostly) very helpful and friendly!
EDIT: If interested, there's also a few mods coming out that add even more aquatic creatures and changes/adds to fishing. Most of them are still in their early stages, so I decided not to link them right away.
I do agree that Mo Creatures would work but you could also get Animal Bikes Mod. Its 1.5.1 and you can ride the mobs.it doesnt added any new ones really but it is fun to play with. Also you can go to skydaz.com for mod installers that work fast and easy. hope i helped
Many thanks in advance.
Has anyone tried this already?

They're looking for mods for 1.5.1. Mo' Creatures has not been upgraded to 1.5.1 yet...
