no. They said Realms and Cross Play would be coming to console within the year. 2016 is over. Any question asked about Realms on Xbox is ignored entirely. I couldn't even get an answer on when they would enable entering in Seeds on Realms on Win10 edition. It seems as though 4J has zero interest in supporting Realms or their customer service.
It would be nice to hear about any progress that was made so far for Realms on consoles. Even if it was a speculation on a percentage of completion.
I really wish developers released an every other week progress report in their newsletter on what they accomplished towards the goals they set. Even if it wasn't as positive as we all hoped.
No one has heard any updated information. I hate telling friends that I have to leave when they want to keep building on my world. I would definitely pay to keep a realm open for them. JS

I think what happens with the console edition is in the hands of 4J Studios, and not Microsoft or Mojang. I bet they work like crazy on the port to the Nintendo Switch. At least it would make sense from the view of 4J, because thats where the next big chunk of money is coming from.
Another point with cross platform playing is, that 4J always wants to provide MCCE features to ALL platforms where the console edition runs on. I have no idea why they refuse to exploit the power of newer consoles for some things, like shaders or supply the Xbox one edition with the ability to put my world on an USB stick.
In minute 15 someone asks at last Minecon about Realms: They basically say: We want to deliver it on every console at the same time, and it seems to take for ever. And they are working on it. No date. Similar question at minute 18, where someone asks about servers.
I really wonder, why they are blocking themself by reducing Minecraft on console to the lowest common denominator. It makes no sense, there are things you can exploit on newer generation consoles that you simply can't on PS Vita or the old Xbox 360. At least they already made the world slightly bigger on Xbox one, which is a big thing considering they want to make everything equal. However, in a later update they messed it up with the new terrain/world generation algorithms which reduces the biome size so far, that villages almost don't spawn anymore.
Judging from the bug reports, where new updated and features break old already working features (always a bad sign) their code base is probably quite messy. And their development resources are quite limited. They haven't even implemented most 1.9 or 1.10 features in the console edition yet.
Everything about this, is extremely unsettling. Console is the ugly step child, as time goes on we see these issues with no end in sight.... on a communal game, a game that is designed around creating groups, sharing experiences and creativity and it is mind boggling!
How about just getting Realms to work within each console's ecosphere. Forget the cross platform ******** 'til it's ready. People are willing to pay to play and MS is pissing it away. All my minecraft friends have moved on to games that have servers like Ark, even though they would rather be on this game!
It seems we are destined to be trapped, playing on limited worlds, expected to pay for mini games that (although somehow must be making MS a ton of Money) but I see nobody play. And settling with bugs that seem to never get looked at let alone resolved (villager issues).
This need to make this happen. Period. My buddy and I have such different schedules, It would be great if we could work on the same world without actually having to be on at the same time all the time.
I'm not saying that article isn't true but that screen looks photo shopped to me.It makes no sense why the sign into xbox live box you get on other platforms would appear on xbox one as you likely would already be signed into xbox live automatically.
Also playing multiplayer is not free on xbox as that pop up box claims
"The Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft is obviously a lot different than the old Xbox One Edition—right from the splash screen, you will start to see the difference in the game, and things like the welcome screen and other parts look exactly like they do on Windows 10."
Likely that is a preview build and they havent tweaked the menus yet.
I asked for more info, but this is just confirming what I've said since last E3; we will have to get Pocket/W10 in order to cross play with those versions and it'll be far easier to just kill off 4J's code and replace it than try jury-rigging a conversion.
Note that it says "Welcome to the take home version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition", has "Xbox One Edition" in the title and specifically mentions Realms.
When is it coming?
Have they forgotten consoles?
When do we get some straight forward replies?
We need some answers!
What do you think, will it ever be released?
Last Year at E3 4JStudios said Realms would be coming in 2017. Nothing has been said since then. Watch out for an announcement at this years E3.

Me too
Seems like a no-brainer to me unless it's not easy to program it in. I don't know.

And doesn't mention 4J. At all.
So.. someone faked a dev loading screen and message window well enough that it's actively running in-game, for.. what reason, exactly?
Thankfully, facts don't need belief to be true.
Fine, no more replies from me on this thread. Let you all keep asking questions and ignoring answers you don't like.
