Elevators should be added to Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition (and PC Minecraft :D).
WHY WE SHOULD HAVE ELEVATORS
We should have elevators because it allows for fast, more reliable, and easier transportation from floor to floor. It's good for multi-floor buildings, skyscrapers,
and just floor to floor transportation. It's more reliable then piston or water elevators. But it comes at a cost. Plus, ladders and water is slow. Elevators
also are easier for beginners in redstone, as it required very little redstone knowledge. More can said.
THINGS IT ADDS
- Elevators (Of course)
- Elevator Doors
- Elevator Caller
CRAFTING ELEVATORS
First off, you need to craft elevator doors. Crafting is like this:
ID = Iron Door; R = Redstone;
R | R | R
ID | ID | R
R | R | R
Elevator Doors are 2 blocks long, 1 block thick.
Next, you have to (although it's not required, it's recommended) craft a elevator caller. It's like a button, just crafted by gold and doesn't supply redstone
power. It's crafted like this:
G = Gold
G | G
Lastly, you need to craft the elevator. You craft it like this:
D = Diamond; R = Redstone; I = Iron; W = Wool of any color
W | W | W
I | D | I
R | I | R
It's meant to be costly.
HOW TO USE THEM
First, you take your elevator door, and put it somewhere (Must be at least 2 blocks long space).
After that, place a redstone source on the wall next to it (This is so it can open the doors up).
Then, you put your elevator(s) behind it.
Go in it, and right click the elevator. It will open a GUI of floors. Press a floor button and it will take you there. It can go up or down.
If you crafted an elevator button, put it on the wall next to the elevator door. After this, it will send the elevator to your floor if it is already NOT going
where. If it's already at that floor, it will send a message in the chat: "The elevator is already on your current floor.". If the elevator is already going
somewhere else, it will say in the chat: "The elevator is already going to another floor!". If the elevator is already heading to YOUR current floor, it will say:
"The elevator is already coming to your current floor!".
Going into detail now.
HOW TO ADD A FLOOR
Your elevator can program up to 100 floors. It already has floor 1, which is ground level. If there are floors below floor 1, the first floor underground will
say "B1". The 'B' means below ground. Note that below ground floors also count torwards the 100 floors. So that means you can't have 50 above ground
floors, and 80 below ground floors. Anyways, now we are REALLY going on to how to add a floor.
It's simple to add a floor. Just add another story to your house that has at LEAST 2 blocks of space between the elevator and the story. That's how you add
another floor. The floor will then show up in your elevator GUI, if you did it right. As said before, the floor CAN be below ground.
THE TEXTURE OF THE BLOCKS
The elevator button's texture is just a button but has a gold texture.
The elevator door's texture is like in real life. It's silver/gray, and the doors slide into the block their next to when the elevator door is supplied by redstone
power.
The actual elevator's texture is that the top is a thin sheet of whatever color wool you put in the recipe. The rest of it is a mix between aqua and white/grey.

While the idea is interesting, we shouldn't have every item handed to us. One of the things that is awesome of minecraft is the creativity of people.
And if you want an extremely fast, easy to make, reliable elevator take a look at this:
My only suggestion for this type of elevator is to use slabs instead of full blocks for two reasons. One, it makes it easier to break the block the minecart sits on. And two, it makes it easier to jump out of the elevator. When you get out of the minecart you will be standing on the later and it is much easier to jump off the ladder on to a slab then a block. Also the ladders keep you from taking fall damage while going down.

I don't really like those types of elevators. I would prefer my suggestion MUCH better.

No, your idea isn't better.
Minecraft, is the past, in the past, werent elevators. Just ladders... So no support.
Elevator is a modern invention. It wasn't in the past.
Did Jesus use elevators and get up on pyramids?
No.

How the hell did you get so off topic? Also I said I PREFER my idea much better. Is that saying it's better? No. And by the time they had TNT, they had basic elevators. And what does this thread have to do with Jesus (I'm not even christain...)? Did Jesus use ladders to get on pyramids? No.
So basically you've just started a flame war! Wipee!

A pulley can be considered a elevator, the Egyptians did have pulleys while they built the pyramids, they did indeed have elevators, now while i don't think that a modern day elevator should be put into minecraft, a pulley should be added. Your argument is invalid.

there's no real proof that it is in the past.. he could be a guy that just is on an island or small territory in the year 4000 for all we know.
Besides who cares if it's in the past? Maybe this guy you're playing as is a genius and not stupid.
I look at like this, if the developers wanted us to have modern technology in the game, they would of given us it. But they didn't so quite complaining and trying to make it modern. And if it really bugs you that much, then put down the controller and play the PC version and "Mod" to your hearts content.
