I am extremely confused now. I tried an old seed to see if it changed, yolo. I had done it on the 'large' biomes and it came out totally different than the 'original'. Ok I though as sometimes updates redo seeds as they have in the past.
I then tried the same seed, but used 'small' on the slider. The topography was the same as the 'original', except that the Ocean Monument and Witch Hut were missing, maybe a few minor changes as well.
Curious, I tried 'medium' and was nothing like the small or large biomes.
So now does every seed have 3 versions? This really throws a wrench in the gears when trying to look up biomes on chunkbase as I have no idea what to put for the version since there are different worlds for the same seed.
As I understand it the biome slider determines how many and the size of the biomes that are generated on a seed. Thus on the LARGE setting you can get a seed that is all desert, or just savannah and jungle, while on the SMALL setting you might get 3 deserts, two oceans, a jungle and a extreme hills, or more. I have no idea what effect it would have on existing seeds, but it will likely shift the existing biomes to meet the slider criteria. Hence it may no longer snow in your Snow biome because it shifted to be desert.
Did it write new terrain over your existing map? I can see the structures disappearing if the seeds shifted to meet the new criteria (i.e. no with hut because that swamp isn't a swamp any more, it's now plains).
I think the slider was intended for use during seed generation, so effects on existing seeds may vary, wildly.

Perpetually negative
