What if Minecraft xbox edition had a currency system? To be able to build shops and sell certain items to new players to your seed would be cool, especially for those interested in owning a business in real life. It could teach them the basics to bargaining, selling, and etc. But what would the currency (money) be? Would it be paper cash that they would have to add on or would it be special blocks or items such as diamonds , iron ingots , ender pearls, or etc. It would be neat to see this added to Minecraft because it could spark players to make stores stocked with certain items . But when new players enter the world, they probably wouldn't have any cash. So that's when other players already in the world can use them to their benefit. If the (contractor) needs help completing a project, he can offer them an amount of (money). After completing the labor, the new player can go to a nearby store and purchase items or tools to go looking for resources with ease. But if the player is only there to build and mine the orginal way, so be it :). They don't have to use the currency system. So all in all, what are your opinions on a currency system being added to the xbox edition?
Why does everyone always want to have a currency in their world?
Minecraft is the perfect game for an anarcho-Communist community to thrive. Why not just let it? With a currency, eventually you'll have people far wealthier than anyone else that pretty much control the world, yet the new guys can't even afford anything. Haven't you been keeping up with current events? Capitalism just isn't working.
If anything, just have a world based on trading. It's still not ideal, and will still be a source of greed, but it's still better than an official currency.

LMAO? This is Minecraft, not real world politics. Anyway, I think currency makes things more interesting. Usually people use gold bars or paper.

Newsflash: There are real people behind the characters you're playing with online. Real people with real personalities, and some of them will take advantage of the system. A society is a society, it doesn't matter if it's in real life or a virtual reality. In fact, it's most likely to amplify thoughts of greed because everyone knows there are no real world consequences and it's far easier to exploit the system.
My suggestion is the abolishment of politics, something to make it easier for the host to moderate. If everyone supports everyone, there is no need for greed. Rewards for supporting the community are social, rather than material. Your status in the world is determined by how much you contribute to the wellbeing of everyone as a whole.
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."
It's the best way to build a strong community that's less likely to fall apart. If you haven't noticed, most RPG worlds on MCXBLA don't last more than a month. What do they all have in common? Currency. Think about it for a second, if there are a bunch of rich guys at the top with all of the money, that's going to discourage new players from joining in the first place. And if they do, it's probably not going to be fun working for scraps while the others have everything they could want.
Remind me how well communism works in reality again...
Oh yes, badly.
Communism has never been accomplished in society, you should probably read more history books. The reason is Communism can't thrive unless several other countries also use the system. If you don't have a currency, and everyone else does, how are you going to import anything? In Minecraft, you can't import anything, even if you wanted to, it's the perfect environment. There have been Communist parties, but the closest an entire country has came to making it work is a half-assed socialism. Socialism =/= Communism. I'm not talking about Stalinism either, his intentions were in the right place, but the methods were all wrong. Marx had it right.
Anyway, I'm not even talking about Communism, even it has flaws, I'm speaking of anarcho-Communism. Again, you should do some reading before making wild accusations. As long as the host doesn't feel some false sense of grandiosity, anarcho-Communism is perfect for Minecraft. No leaders to become drunk with power, everything is mob rule. Instead of the host kicking someone, just because they felt like it, the community could vote on whether or not someone should be kicked. It's just a system that's more fair to everyone.

Where's the fun in that? I spend most of my days carrying out surgical strikes against opponents' castles and taking away permissions because I can. It's the perfect place to abuse power. I love it.
Thank you all for the wonderful opinions and comments, they all have their ups and downs. Well, I didnt expect to spark Minecraft World War I haha. I see your point in communism, but thats not what I meant. Yes the host will have more prep time to acquire money (if he doesn't start out with an amount), but the host will always be the top dog of that world [currency or no currency]. He basically controls everything that goes on that server from players building to poking others with their swords. For one, I don't intend to use it to others demise, and hopefully others won't either but thats how the world is. But this currency system is there to create new experiences for all players. For other players that don't want a currency system in their world, they could create an option to opt that out. Im not saying to put it on every server whether we like it or not. Im just saying that it would be something new to think about. For instance, if Joe Blow wanted to make a city, he could make supermarkets with food, tool, and etc. The other players could build a house [no "f"ing taxes] and live out a normal life acquiring items by scavenging or buying from a seller. Just one of the examples I could give.

Thanks for proving my point. You're the exact kind of tyrant my proposed system was built to avoid.

Currency can somewhat work in Minecraft. I'm just saying it's not ideal and takes a lot more effort to make it really wok. The thing most people running these worlds don't understand is inflation. Most leaders of RPG worlds just dupe their choice in currency like crazy, put it in circulation, but never raise prices on items. It simply can't work like that, eventually everyone becomes rich and there's no point in labor or currency anymore. At that point, you might as well have just started a regular build server and said, "Alright, guys, just go crazy and build whatever you want. But, it can only be one house." That's going to become boring for everyone very quickly.
For currency to work properly, the system must be in balance, and that requires strict regulation. The PC version have server currency plug-ins to do all of this for them. In MCXBLA, you actually have to understand how an economy works if you want it to last. No matter what, you'll still end up with those rich guys. But if you ignore the principles of inflation, everyone will eventually be Bill Gates rich and the game becomes very mundane.
Well very interesting statements. I appreciate all of the feedback from you all. Is there already specific trading (prices) so to say??? Or do you just come up with your own?

If people want to play minecraft using currency have fun but in my opinion i don't care that much for it because it's such a pain what i do i if they play using money ok but do it some away from me

You must take Minecraft pretty seriously. I don't think many people playing a sandbox game like Minecraft worry about any of that, bro. I guess that's an interesting way to look at it?

Not really. I've never even been a part of an RPG world. All I know is what I've heard from people about everyone becoming rich and the game turns boring. Like I said, inflation... lack thereof, actually. If you don't know how currency works, don't be surprised when your community collapses on itself within a month and nobody wants to play anymore. That's all I'm saying.
Why would someone go out of their way to institute some form of currency? This game can already work perfectly without it. You don't need to go through a bunch of extra hassle and regulation, making the game feel more like work than a nice way to relax at the end of the day. I just don't see the point, there's literally no reason behind it.
Say I was on the left side of my porch, and I wanted to be on the right side. Well, I could simply take a few steps and be done with it. Or I could follow the principles of currency in Minecraft. This would probably entail something like running around the house, building an obstacle course in the back yard, completing said course, running around the other side of the house, then finally reaching my destination.
It doesn't translate exactly, but... you get the point.
I would have thought sponge would have already become the go to currency. The host controls exactly how much is in the world, and it not naturally occurring. Its really the only thing you CAN use without monitoring everyone all the time. Plus, your currency remains at its initial value.
Our community has about 4 wealthy players and the rest aren't poor, they just aren't as wealthy. My friend I play with the most has over 600 worth of currency
