Odd thing to say, really, given that the graphics have literally thousands of options, to allow you to customise it to your own taste. There's also an Old-Skool ('minecraft') rendering option, if point filtering is your thing.
I loved your game, bought it on day one, I love minecraft had it since beta 1.3, got total miner on day one, hate castle miner (Z too) LOL!
I was really excited when a friend told me about FC, I was freaking out waiting because MC doesn't run on my new computer so FC was a godsend, I haven't played it in a while but I might soon!
Exactly, it pisses me off. You know that the developer of Fortress Craft made a video talking trash about Notch?
In the same one (I think? Maybe a different one...) he also goes on about how they should be called block genre games, automatic xp farms not working is ********, etc, etc.
That dude was totally a Minecraft player and, just like notch who decided to reinvent Total Miner, reinvented a block game. The game is really nice with some great innovations, but not for me - I'm not too hype on infinite legos.
But anyone that has run these boards trying to justify the dupe glitch as a feature... They should play FortressCraft. It's much nicer for the creative types. Colored lights, infinite blocks, custom blocks, block effects and more.
Someone above already mentioned all the filters you can turn on and off. Not to mention the textures are actually in a reasonable resolution. Also, uh, do you play Minecraft? Cos this thing still looks like hot garbage in Florida that's just baking in the awfulness nearly 24/7 in the heat and humidity while some sort of weird mold or something grows in it causing it to move on it's own and make burping noises...
... actually, that's generally prettier than Minecraft.
You need to do your research. FortressCraft credits *all* it's inspirations in the.... credits. Feel free to apologise. :-)
No I didn't. However, Notch has insulted both me personally *and* my game on a number of occasions.
Sorry about bringing up 'facts' at a time like this.
It's 32 players, I barely receive any bug reports these days, and has dozens upon dozens of features not found in vanilla Minecraft.... plus the Little Blocks mod does not even come CLOSE to the FortressCraft workshop!
Yes, it actually is buggy as hell. I can't even play with my friends it's so laggyI just deleted every one of them. I don't play them anyways. No one really plays them actually.

And actually, Notch just said all of those minecraft clones just didn't "Bring new stuff to the table" You made a video ranting.
CastleMiner was my choice for creative. CastleMiner Z was my choice for survival. I hated Total Miner and Fortress Craft. Minecraft is definitely the best, but it was fun running around as a Spartan with an AK in CMZ.
I played them all I like Fortress Craft because the developer was very cool and polite towards the idea of him copying MineCraft same with the Total Miner guy... now... Castle Miner.... He only cares for money and is a smack talker. I have seen how he is and he treats every Minecraft fan as a piece of trash, he never cares.... I know this because he posted a video making fun of a Minecraft fan who put his opinion of Castle miner in a comment section of him gloating over being #1 indie game... (which was a legit opinion) and made fun of him, till he removed it from so many dislikes (I WONDER WHY!) I was one of those lucky viewers.
I play FortressCraft and Minecraft, why can there only be one? Can I only play COD because they have weapons that shoot people so obviously BF3 is a clone?

Well, you have to admit, you KNOW the people who made FortressCraft, Total Miner, etc, thought "Hey, look how popular Minecraft is! I bet if I make something almost identical, I can take advantage of that popularity and make some money off of another guy's game!"
And that's what they did.
While games such as Battlefield, CoD, Gears of War, and Ghost Recon all feature guns and shooting, they are each different games, they are played in different ways, and they have remarkably different features.
The "Minecraft clones" discussed in this thread are just that: clones. They are nearly identical games made by developers whose sole intention was to capitalize on another person's game by copying it.

In the same respect could you not say they aren't clones? What do FC and MC have in common? Blocks, World Generation, and your guy carries a pick. On MC you fight mobs, try and get to the end, find diamonds, and craft.
Where as in FC you build to your hearts content, join servers, find relics, and build custom blocks, a building game. Nothing too similar here.

Well, earlier in Minecraft's life, it didn't have things like The End.
FortressCraft started as a very simple Minecraft clone, where all you did was build. The creator planned to add things such as mobs and survival to make the game as similar to Minecraft as possible, to capitalize on the trend. He couldn't be sued for copyright infringement because his game had a "different" name, and he made the game himself. That's the reason all of these Minecraft clones exist in the first place - because they can capitalize on Minecraft's popularity without being sued.
If I could just copy and paste the entire Harry Potter book series, and publish the exact same books with just different names, and still make money off of them, do you think I would? HECK YES. That's basically what the Minecraft clones are doing.
Meanwhile, competitors Battlefield, CoD, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Gears of War are trying to find ways to further differentiate themselves from each other. That's the major difference between competitors and clones. Competitors try to be different. Clones try to replicate the target game as much as possible. Which is exactly what FortressCraft did/ is doing.
I have em all, and in my eyes, because I like building, fortresscraft wins.
The sheet epicness of detail allowed by customizing blocks is what wins over mc. Add to this, the developer (who contrary to popular mc fanboy belief loves mc and has been very public about his inspiration) works very hard to update the game and shape it into his vision which is a very different route than mc.
It's not buggy, but due to the amount of customization allowed it is easy to overload the server with polygons, slowing the speed of servers. A brief looksee on YouTube will reveal some incredible builds and customization.
This said, when I get the hankering to mine stuff, and I do, I have to return to mc as fc features no mining OR, coincidentally, crafting, oddly enough.

That was the Fortress Craft developer that was ranting on Minecraft. The creator of Castle Miner actually likes Minecraft.
No, uhm, no I didn't. I've never planned to add survival. Why would I copy Minecraft? It already exists. my game has a very different direction, and a very different focus! It had this focus on release, and it has that focus now!
How am I replicating Minecraft as much as possible? In the last 15 moths of the game's development, I have added ONE thing to FortressCraft, that Minecraft has. That one thing? Ladders. Absolutely not a single one of the hundreds of features have been something available in vanilla Minecraft. Not. One. I have managed to differentiate myself as much as I am physically capable, and I intend to continue doing so.
The saddest thing is that you make up WHY I wrote FortressCraft ('for money'), despite the fact that the real reason ('to prove someone wrong') started right here on these forums. I really think it's amazing how few people bother to actually look into these things; the story of how FortressCraft started is one I've told to a dozen podcasts, interviews and journalists. *sighs*
People sell things for money. That's just how it works.
And that game would not have sold if it wasn't so similar to Minecraft. People needed something on the Xbox that was similar, and FortressCraft came out, so they bought that.
You can call it taking advantage of a trend, or you could call it using marketing strategy to design a game that will cater to a large audience. It's whatever.
All I'm saying is, Minecraft is the reason FortressCraft sold so well. Had Minecraft not existed first, would FortressCraft have taken its place? Maybe, maybe not.
But it was, at the time, basically a Minecraft for Xbox Live players. And that's what they wanted. I actually had friends that bought the game, and they all said that they bought it because they wanted Minecraft on the Xbox.
I understand that you've "upgraded" the game, and perhaps gone in a different direction than Minecraft has, but still, the initial sales and hype of your game was due to the popularity of Minecraft, and the lack of a Minecraft port on the Xbox.
I suppose there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of Minecraft's popularity by making a game that's similar. It's basically the same as taking advantage of the rising population of stupid people by putting out more Jersey Shore box sets. It's a smart business decision, and it makes money. Where you take it from there is a different story.

You do not craft in FortressCRAFT. NO DON"T GIVE ME THAT CONFUSING ASS CUSTOM BLOCK BS.
Well, you have to admit, you KNOW the people who made FortressCraft, Total Miner, etc, thought "Hey, look how popular Minecraft is! I bet if I make something almost identical, I can take advantage of that popularity and make some money off of another guy's game!"

This isn't really true. People enhance software (and games) because they are confident they can make a better product that meets the expectations of users. Without that confidence, money can never come into the equation. Minecraft itself was fueled on this idea with money only entering at a much later date.
Unless, of course, you're one of the Warsow/Tremulus/Alien Arena/Cube2/MineTest/etc guys. Then money just never comes into the equation. If you're completely clueless, you should Google up those games - you're missing out on a lot if you have no idea what they are. Minecraft fans should kick up Sauerbraten and see what a real cube engine can do - http://sauerbraten.org/ (and note that this was started in like 2003 or 2004?) or the popular Gary's Mod if you really want to create a rich world for adventuring. But you won't, and even if you do, it's probably too hard for you to figure out (no flame intended, it's tricky).
Now, as for why most people still play Minecraft - it isn't because it's a fantastic product. It's the same reason more people use Windows and buy iPads - because everyone else does. The mod community is large, the features are generic enough to learn quickly, the community is (generally) OK, YouTube videos are abundant, the name is easily recognizable, etc, etc. It just so happens that the crafting and building is so abstract, generic and simple that anyone can use it immediately instead of tackling something like Sauerbraten. The purchase of Minecraft: 360 Ed. was made with any requirements other than "I need Minecraft." Not much thought entered beyond that.
If you want proof of that, just look at the 360 page - people are demanding 4J fix the bugs in "their" game. Sorry, but Minecraft isn't 4Js and has always been (and will always be) a ridiculously buggy and often broken product - it certainly isn't a good business decision for Mojang to keep throwing resources at making a reasonable release (re-release?) of a real, feature rich and finalized release of Minecraft.
As a final point, just look out the outcry for people wanting Creative mode in the 360 version up to the point of frothing at the mouth about being able to abuse a glitch. It's hysterical. Now look at FortressCraft: it's a great product that only has creative mode - with many features Minecraft will never, ever have. You play what fits your expectations - if you want to build with infinite blocks, you're not going to be making any lightbulbs glow with your bright decision of choosing Minecraft: 360 Ed.
I loved your game, bought it on day one, I love minecraft had it since beta 1.3, got total miner on day one, hate castle miner (Z too) LOL!

FortressCraft is cool. Great job. Awesome decisions in features for it.
