before I get flamed, I am not supporting any of these clones. I am just asking becuase i can't seem to find much info on most of them. I have only played minecraft 360 edition and I assume minecraft is a more in depth game given the large price difference.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition lets you create worlds from the comfort of your sofa. Play alone or play with your friends. Explore, build and conquer! At night monsters come out, so make sure to build a shelter before that happens. After that, your world is your imagination. Turn your hours into minutes with Minecraft! To experience split-screen functionality a high-definition television is required.
Has anyone played the clones? what did you think of them? pro's and con's for each? Spltscreen is very important for me, so that rules out 3 out 4 immediately. Using our Avatar would be sweet though.
I think FortressCraft is the best - a lot of the work that guy does is pretty innovative and fun. The downside is there still aren't any hostile mobs, are there? The whole thing is about building - all the duper/creative spammers on here should just go use that. Much prettier, much more flexible, better mechanisms to work with.
Castle Miner Z is not my favorite, but for anyone that likes a 3rd Person Shooter or thinks Minecraft should have a baby with Call of Duty.... should probably try this. It's fun, but not something I'd ever play again.....
Also, it's worth mentioning that you shouldn't really call these "Minecraft Clones" - in many cases, they aren't. I'm not sure what the most popular genre for these are...? Block games? Voxel games? Volumetric geometry games? wut?
I have them. Fc and tm. Their updates take a long time. Total miner, I got banned from the tm forums. It took them over a year just to release one update. Fc is all about building and with the custom blocks its easier to make small builds.

They all suck because they don't give credit to minecraft. Except for Total miner, which I give cudo's to Craig for saying he was inspired by Minecraft. But the rest just suck. The developers for Castle Miner and Fortress Craft both think Minecraft sucks.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Maybe the reason they made their own games is because they didn't like minecraft?
I suppose cod should be kissing castle wolfenstien's ass every day or doom? Love the fanatics of the internet.
Fortresscraft was created outta a half bet. Folks said a game like MC couldn't be done on the xbox, and Djarcas set out to prove them wrong...
Castleminer was created outta a desire for graphics and more blocks.
Btw- should also be kissing my ass for playing and buy pong, and supporting digital games there after long before you,
and the comment "sucks" was born.
There was a digital world before you arrived, there will be one when your gone.

Seatbelts are not as confining as Wheelchairs. Buckle up.
Fortress Craft is the buggiest one and its only 8 players. No offline as you can't play XBL indie games offline. You build and then its just a vote whoring race to get your world up ranks. Closest Minecraft clone, Just with the little blocks mod.
CastleMiner Z is the most fun of all the clones in my eyes, Tons of modes, 7 I believe, each bringing very different things and overall tons of play time.

People tend to hate me without ever meeting me. This makes me pity said people.
Castle Miner Z is fun if you want to use guns in your game, and as you get farther, or is it further, from the start point, the terrain changes drastically, and the enemies change. It also has dragons. And you use your Xbox Avatar.
Total Miner is the most like Minecraft, but still very different. The crafting system is basically the same, except you have to find blueprints, which personally, I didn't like having to do, but it adds a reason to dig down the 2000 blocks or however far it is. Last I played though, the only mobs were spiders, and only at deeper levels. If they ever update it, it could be pretty fun, but I won't be going to back to it.
I bought them after finding out about Minecraft, but the more I learned about Minecraft, the more disappointed I was in the XBLA Indie titles. However, they did help me get some friends into the genre, if it's appropriate to consider this type of game a genre, so it certainly wasn't a waste.
As cheap as they are, I'd say try them out for yourself, but most likely, you'll prefer Minecraft.
The only one worth getting apart from Minecraft imo is Totalminer, the best thing about it is that its not limited to a postage stamp sized world like Minecraft is right now.
You should point out that you're refferring to depth. The surface area is considerably smaller, unless you're playing the creative mode, which is the same size as the current 360 Minecraft. Or have they updated the game recently?
EDIT: I checked and in case anyone is interested...

On Creative you can also choose your ground level from 60 to 110.

The credits of Fortress Craft mention Notch and MC for inspiration.
Castle Miner Z is good fun. it's more about survival than building though.
the only reasons I play minecraft over some of these are that it has a larger community and the fact that it can be played offline. All indie games require you to be connected to Xbox live to play =\

MC is so frustrating to me.
I play TM a lot more than MC because I keep missing some of the cool things that TM has that I wish MC had, like Portals (think user-placable Stargates) and ropes. The shops are genius, as are the blueprints. (Some people don't like the blueprint thing, but they are like "quests" and gives you a reason to dig). TM isn't a "clone"- it's going it's own way and actually goes out of it's way to make sure it doesn't do things the same way as MC.
The next update is coming out in about a month and it's taking a while cause Craig rewrote the game engine from scratch to allow for HD graphics, day/night, awesome lighting, copy/paste (yes, whole structures); and to prepare for future updates, like infinite worlds, more mobs, etc. (That mental picture of TM that you have now- throw it out the window!)
Agreed, for now there's only spiders.... but the first time you hear one of those screeches I guarantee you you'll **** your pants.
I've played total miner and both the castleminer's but i've only played the trial of fortress craft, Out of them all i prefer the castleminer games as they have rather unlimited worlds like the pc version of minecraft, really though i dont understand why people like calling these types of games clones as there basically just different games of the same genre but if you have a mind of your own and ain't a sheep im sure if you try or buy one of these games you'll enjoy it.

Fortresscraft and plain castleminer have my vote if you just wanna build stuff. But game mechanic wise, CMZ and TM just cann't compare to MC.
So glad it's finally here.
