As far as minecraft on the xbox and PC goes.
This is not MineCraft for PC, it's MineCraft Xbox Edition. Meaning it is not a carbon copy of the game and will not run parallel to the PC version.
An average PC now-a-days has at least 1-2GB of ram, while I believe (could be wrong) the 360 has 512mb.
This is not enough for there to be a truly unlimited world in any sense. Whether we will see larger worlds I cannot say. But as far as content there will be similarities to the PC version due to content for the 360 version being controlled by the community - just as the PC one is.
The world site is going to stay the same for a long time we are going to get 1.7.3 some time in july and then i dont know when we are going to get 1.8 thats when we are going to get hunger. In july we get to play with pistons
World size may be limited because of ram, but thats most likely because they load the world into ram. I believe it is possible for them to make the world unlimited with the limited ram size, all that is needed is to load only the world that is currently needed by the game(the chunks the player can see while standing still).
The only problem I can think of is that the hdd space may be limited. I believe there is a limit of 2gb which xbox gives developers for saved games. While the computer size is limited by your hdd size, the xbox is limited by this artifical size. Another thing is that a full map on the xbla mc is able to fit on a map. Currently the only way to find people in your game is to use the map which is given to us at the beginning of the game. It is possible that the only reason that it is this size is because the map is this size. When they update the game later there will be a new better way to find people, by using the coords that will display on the map.
Im not sure if the map size will ever increase although I heard that they are aware of the complaints and are "working" on it. In my opinion the size of the map is perfect, but I can see where later in the future the size will be a problem in my map. From the center of my map I have already developed(built stuff on) land all the way to the end of the map. Almost in a straight line in fact.(don't know why I built that way, just happened). Given about 3 months with some help I may run out of land to build on and I am not someone who can or will start a new map.

All i have to say is, Castle Miner Z has infinite maps on xbox. Why shouldn't Minecraft be able to as well?
also just bear in mind those games were designed for the xbox, whereas minecraft wasn't. The mechanics involved in minecraft make the game alot more demanding than castle miner and total miner, but 4J have said that they will be looking into increasing the world size later once the game is almost up to date with the pc edition.
They are indie games made by dudes in their basements.....
Indie games have much stricter limitations than arcade games as well.
Minecraft doesn't have bigger or infinite maps because of splitscreen. That's the most convincing thing I've heard. I'm pretty sure it's a mix of limited memory and splitscreen.
CastleminerZ doesn't have splitscreen. As well when you got out to a far enough distance say 10,000 you start phasing through the blocks and biomes load up intersecting other biomes until eventually you hit a bedrock wall due to the lighthouse at spawn constantly loading up.
All of you talking about RAM are failing to consider multiple points here. First the PC version of Minecraft was written in Jave which consumes more RAM than a C++ version.

They are jumping to the final versions of all of the updates, i.e., 1.7.3, 1.8.2, etc, etc.
Next 3 weeks? 4J said it'd be out in about 10 days, about 4 days ago.

Tis a very good question..
I think it started with infinite maps. I heard total miner is getting an update to get infinite worlds too.

The news on their twitter is that it will possibly be approved by Microsoft's Certification process that can take up to 10 days.
I don't see anything announcing the release in 10 days.

It said cert can take 10 days, not longer than.
There's a possibility, although probably pretty small, that it does not pass certification and they'll have to start the entire process over.
Being in the certification process does not guarantee a patch will be released in less than 10 days.
