Does anybody know any good ways to reduce the lag for Minecraft Xbox 360 when playing in someone else's multiplayer game, other than exiting and rejoining wich get annoying after a while.
Get better Internet... Seriously, I'm running 25/10 and I've had 8 people on and havn't had any issues and everyone says it runs as smooth as a babies ****.
The frame drop happens in single player as well with many people (including me)
It is because they didn't test it enough and were probably rushed.
Um, did you ever stop to think it may be your Xbox. I know people don't seem to think it's possible but your console does get old. And when it gets old, it stops working as smoothly as when it was brand new.

I don't have an old Xbox. I have one of the 360 Slims and this game defintely has frame rate drop. It is more noticeble when you have built many large things or cleared huge areas, especially when it rains. It isn't much drop but you can still see it. With the game being advertised with a constant fps I will definitely nitpick on things that are advertised.
I played with a friend for the first time tonight and I got hit with lag bad. I would be mining blocks and they'd reappear and then disappear after a few seconds. I'd place blocks and they'd also come and go. At one point my friend dissappeared even though he was standing next to me. My friend was hosting, not sure of his speeds but he said he doesn't have issues and I have 25/25 Mbps. Have been dying to play with someone else but ended pretty disappointed, only got to play 15 mins, it was unbearable.

Well, neither I or any of my friends have experienced lag or frame rate drop.
I've been playing Minecraft on Xbox360 about two weeks now. Started out, I could have up to three people on my world, with minimal problems when we first started i.e. inventory boxes lagging, broken block re-appearing. Then BOOM. two days ago, i can't have one person on the world aside from me without lag out the low end. My buddy tries to join, he says the world doesn't load, can't move to a location because it hasn't rendered, and generally disappears... not to mention the other issues i already mentioned. we'll be exploring a cave and he says "hey look, gold!" and i mined it forty minutes ago. same person two weeks ago had no issues, now has massive issues trying to play the game. bonus he says, is that he can locate all the empty caverns for mining purposes. bad news is he was missing from my game and didn't see lava and accidentally hit me while i was damming the lava, knocked me in and killed me. two diamond picks, 18 diamond blocks, 214 iron blocks and 18 gold blocks later, i was dead and respawned on the other side of the world with no hope to locate all my goods. this seems to be an issue with multiple people. is there going to be some sort of patch? is it this bad for anyone else? we both have reset routers and networks, but to no avail. i'd love to see someone be able to help. he's pretty agitated to have spent 20.00 on a game in which he get irritated by the lack of playability.
You guys need to consider the other factors of the interwebz. It's not all about speed. Ping and latency have big factors in multiplayer games. It could be you, could be the people connected. It could also be someone else bogging down a server...

Heh - And I used to be the one saying "Really? You're playing NerdCraft??"
Let us see how much lag can be made by 8 people dropping lava on mountains and throwing duplicated stacks on the ground.
But in a more serious eye lag is a horrible thing. (Mostly in hunger games)
I've noticed regular half-second-or-so pauses in the game animation after long periods of (single-player) play, but it only becomes noticeable during minecart rides (I have a minecart track built around most of my current 'world'). At worst, it'll pause every couple of seconds, which is kind-of painful when I'm rushing to the other end of the world to beat sunset (some parts of the track are vulnerable to mob interference at night--think creepers spawning on elevated tracks over ocean waters).
I imagined it's some kind of memory management glitch since if I exit the game and re-start it, the pauses disappear until the new session has been in play for awhile.
i always play on a wireless network for multiplayer.
but when i entered a huge hunger games tournament i switched to Ethernet cable and it ran so smoothly
i always play on Ethernet i recommend it to any one who is experiencing mega lag
Since the update aimed at fixing blocks reapperaing after mining, which was a rare occassion for me, is now fairly common ever since & is accompanied by game lag. In addition to my main survival world, my new one, and my superflat world aren't any more immune either.
I have a thread on how to help with redstone lag where I touch on other things that cause lag. It's worth a read also you should periodically save and exit the map to unload chunks your not working in. I'm assuming having chunks loaded when not needed doesn't speed things up. When I use to host a survival map, I would always save and exit the map as a courtesy to players joining, as I found new players loading "active" chunks proved laggy.

Rush, this is a little OT for this thread; but wolfe an I have been having a discussion this morning that has just touched on the question of the transference of game info/signals across completely unloaded chunks... i.e. a scenario where one player enters the game at one end of a redstone line and another player enters the game at the other end... but the chunks in between the two ends are not loaded at all. Any experience with what happens? Also, could this have an impact on lag and, potentially, game crashes?
Ive been playing since release (check leaderboards) and multiplayer has always lagged since the day it came out. Host is always fine but 3 or more people is just awful.
In case I forget, Thank you for your time.

Also there is no other people playing besides me and the other person on the same connection as me.
