So i was making a new world on the xbox 360 edition of minecraft and i remembered the 404 challenge from before 1.8, so i decided to test it and believe it or not it worked.
Here's what you do/ the challenge
1: Put for the world seed generator: 404
2: Near where you spawned there will be a huge gravel area that leads to a huge cave if you break a block
3: You have 1 day to collect as many things from the surface as you can
4: When it turns night go into the cave and try to survive
5: If you die you have to restart the world and try making it farther
6: Multiplayer: If you both die in a matter of seconds then you have to restart otherwise if one person dies keep playing
in the thread i saw for this challenge for the pc version i believe there was a rule where you cant use torches.... Which means collecting sand on the surface to make glass and then use lava as your light source
On the Xbox version does the 404 challenge work past tu14???
The seed "404" (which was the one originally used for this challenge) changed dramatically a long, long time ago (around TU9). The challenge can be done by finding a seed with a deep cave near a water source and digging out some blocks to make the waterfall into the cave. Then just wait until dawn the next day, empty your inventory save your map and then save and exit the world. You'll re-enter at spawn at dawn... so then just follow the challenge rules from that point forward... diving into the waterfall cave you created at dusk and staying underground from that point forward.
As explained above, the seed "404" does not generate the same as it once did... and hasn't since before TU9. The hanging gravel part is missing. You can, however, use any seed you like and commit to all the other rules. Just find a seed with any easily accessible deep cave and head underground at dusk on the first night and commit to not resurfacing for any reason.
