Paying for standard skins would be dumb, if they want to charge they should make like a skin editor in game and charg for that, that way it can be atleast somewhat unique. As for the updates I really hope they don't do it one by one in order of the PC version otherwise we'll never catch up, should be done in bundles imo.
We will be updating to 1.7.3 > 1.8.2 > 1.2.3

I'm new to the game, but when the updates arrive..do I have to start a new world again for them to work???
This has been answered many, many times before, but here it is again:
There's basically 2 kinds of updates:
Terrain: where 1) the old fully-explored world has to be expanded (doubtful), or 2) the existing world has to have some unexplored parts, for the "terrain upgrade" to show up in. Otherwise you'll have to start a new world for the new terrain to show up. Note: "new" terrain or biomes will not show up in already explored portions of existing worlds.
Non-terrain: where a new feature is added, like pistons, mobs, etc. Those things can be simply added to an existing world because terrain isn't affected. For those, you won't have to start a new world.
