I have used the 30-day trial for Realms and I have three days left to purchase the Realm. I like that Microsoft or whatever company can store my server and other players can play on it at any time. But, I am bumping up a few bugs.
Server: 4 players invited. Two play on it (my kids) and I for a total of three players.
Animals will disappear...especially when another player who has not played in a week or so logs on.
The Nether's spawn moves a few blocks from time to time
Boats disappear if left in the water.
These are the major issues I am having. Losing my animals is really upsetting me. I do not have them in really big pens either. I am thinking that the servers they are using are total garbage.
With these issues, I am not thinking about paying to keep my Realm - which I probably would if Realms didn't have bugs.
Yes, I am having all those issues as well as block lag. I only recently 'upgraded' to Realms thinking it was a good idea, but it's been very problematic.
Losing all my animals and villagers (which took ages to convert from zombies and moved using water streams to a purpose built building) was really quite gutting. Had all fast horses, some great villager to trade with... Just the other night they all just disappeared mid-session (we left the spawn area to go to a desert and stock up on sand, came back to find everything gone)
I play on there with my wife and a friend, and we are joined sometimes by my kids (who are all grown up now).
Rather than starting a new realm, we decided to upload the world we had been developing over 6-8 months. But the first thing we noticed was visibility cut down to just 10 blocks, then fog. Really unpleasant in the Nether. And of course the lag, which makes travelling by minecart (which used to be fun) just impossible.
I am thinking why pay for something that is worse than what I had before, something they have been hyping and saying it's so great..?
Any way, I wrote to Mojang at the weekend and eventually got a reply which was a fairly standard response: check this, check that, firewalls, etc, etc... No apology that I was having trouble with their game. None of those things are the issue though. They need to sort this stuff out.
Thank you for the response!! I wonder how endemic this is for people playing on Win 10 Realms. It is definitely a server issue, I kind of laughed at Mojang's response.
Sadly the last update has not done anything to improve render distance for me. There is a little less lag when breaking blocks, etc, but it is still very noticeable.
Not sure what all that means, sorry - I know I have 8GB RAM and 1TB hard drive. Would have to check with my son, my computer tech support I remember him saying I have some sort of integrated processor which he said wasn't great, so maybe that's the issue.
the only issue I know that was there ever since was animals disappearing but they said they already fixed it. Max view distance on realms is probably 8 chunks. My realm have been running for quite a while now but I never had this issue anymore nor boats disappearing and there are only 2 of us in a 10 player realm. Only issue my friend is having is his items disappearing from the inventory when switching to phone and his laptop.
@ JayzzaKris Oh, you have two players. I have three players on a 10 man realm. Does Realms automatically make an infinite world?
@Rodj71 Yeah, that might be your integrated graphics. But, then again Jairudius's reply looks like it is realm related. No way should someone have rendering issues on an over powered gaming computer.
I still have:
-Animals disappear
-Boats disappear
-Nether gates move
I don't play on my phone nor do the other players.
I didn't re-up my subscription until I see Realm fixes in the patch notes. I still think they are running on crappy servers, could it be the code base? Dunno.

I had animals disappear on me once, however it was during a storm (in game) and found a single piece of cooked chicken so I just though it was lightning or something. None of the other stuff have happened though

Does anyone else have any issues with Realms?

I'm glad you posted about this. I will not be getting realms! We play over LAN and do not have these problems.
Rod, go into settings/advanced and you can change your render distance. The last update reset that setting.

Rod, could it be your hardware? I have a i5 - 4590, AMD RX 580, 16 GB RAM, and SSD Raid 10 445GB and it never lags and I max everything out.

I have my render distance set all the way up but I can still see further on my phone in this realm than on my op pc
