I'm struggling with a few things trying to make my first texture pack. I've tried scouring the internet but couldn't find anything. The things I'm struggling with are:
1. Can't get the side of grass texture to show up. I've edited the top, side, and even the dirt and snowy grass side, but it just won't show up in game
2. Leaves! Ugh, this one is bothering me the most. I know how to change the color of the leaves, but I can't figure out how to change the texture! I edited the grey leaf texture, but they refuse to change in game.
Any help with these problems is greatly appreciated
1. Does the directory of the files go [pack name]/textures/blocks?
2. Are the files named correctly? Bedrock has a weird way of naming its textures (Ex. Grass_side_snowed)
3. Is manifest.json included? And is it fitted for the pack? To edit it, you'll need an app that can edit text; notepad, quickedit, and even google docs will do (if it's changed from a .json to .txt, then back to .json). From there, you'll need to edit the name, description, and the two uuids. Don't forget to include a pack image, named pack_icon.
Mojang has a sample pack to work off of on their site, and the gamepedia has a tutorial on how to create a resource pack.
If all of that is done, there should be no issue with your textures showing up.
Notepad++ can save the file as .json, i i believe. If you have android, you can change .txt to .json and it should work fine. If not, an online converter will work just as good
Ok, the manifest is no longer broken, so thanks for that, however still having texture issues. Trying to look up the names of the textures to make sure I have them right, although I'm pretty positive I do since I edited them directly from mojang's sample pack
Odd. Is the pack in development_resource_packs? If so is it a zip/mcpack? Those are the only two things j can think of that'd prevent it from showing up
Try making the dirt under the grass 1 - 15% transparent with a black mask ontop, then make both the grass and leaf textures into .tga files. There's an online converter if your program cant do that.
Well I've lost my motivation for now since I knew absolutely nothing about having to do .tga stuff and I guess that's where I'm having my issues, but I really appreciate all the help you've given me

Do you have a suggestion for converting the text document back to .json? Whatever I tried resulted in the manifest being completely broken

Where would I look to find that out?
Should be under games/com.mojang for mobile, or %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang for Win10
Nope, it's in the regular resource pack folder. Everything else in it has worked fine so far, just not the side of grass and leaves
