I backed up my world before installing, just in case.
1st open: very slow. When I went to open my world, it said siging into XBox and crashed. Crashed again on reopening-- Not a good start!
I force closed the app, and restarted. Good. World loaded, good. Performance seems very snappy! Realized that chunk loading had been set to 6! Oh.
Problems with lighting updates. Lots of darkness where it shouldn't be. Hopefully it is display only and I'm not going to have mobs spawning in "lit" areas. Causing a block update adjacent to the glitches appears to fix it but they are all over the place.
Whoa, the wool is bright! Not sure if I like that? The Pocket GUI hotbar bug with chest, furnaces, ... appears to be fixed. I've gotten used to the Classic GUI so I might switch back once I learn the new recipes. Concrete powder, sweet! Not much difference between the concrete powder and the wool as I had hoped considering the wool changes. Speaking of which, I can see what color my sheep are again. Whew.
Logging in again, it hung up and crashed when I tried to open my game quickly with the logging into xbox server window active. If I sit around and wait at the main menu until it successfully logs in, then the game opens. This is extremely disappointing. It is a single player world, not on realms, so it shouldn't get slowed down or crash because of microsoft's lame server interface. ::sad face::
So, I found that in my settings (profile) I could disable the xbox one sign in, which I'm real happy about. Previously when I disabled it, it called me Steve.
The wool isn't all drastically different. Mainly yellow which is golden, light blue which is aquamarine, and purple and orange which just "pop" a little more.
in addition to the lighting glitches, I've run into x-ray walls/floors a few times which was cool when it happened in my base but not when caving--is that a wall of diamonds or a lake of lava in front of me? Putting a torch on it fixed it in my base but not in the cave.
Lighting gltches arent just for unloaded sections that were previously loaded. It also takes a while to light up the area where a mined block used to be.
I had a squid spawn in my lake which has never happened before. For some reason I killed him instead of naming him. Could just have bren a happy coincidence or because I turned my render distance from 6 to 10 instead of to 12.
Huge bug! The sun rises in the south and sets in the north. Sunflowers face south too. Not sure about pumpkin stems.
That is almost as bad as the xray walls. Navigation is bad enough without F3 but now north isn't even north anymore.
Another bug... at my skeleton spawner, I was able to one-hit the skeletons with my fist. Usually it requires two, since it was too close to the surface and I had already built horse stables above it. That part isn't bad but it doesn't show my xp increasing when I kill them by hand even though the orbs are generated and absorbed.
The update didn't break the item sorter, which I am happy about (simple one: bones, arrows, overflow). The dropper elevator (dropper to dropper, comparator driven) doesn't make a clicking sound any more which is good but it is a swoosh... a little too close to the creeper sound, perhaps?
I switched back to classic gui. The only new recipe that I've used is for concrete powder which was easy enough to learn. Concrete powder is basically the same color as the wool with a slightly deeper texture for the wool. I haven't made any concrete yet.

Sunflowers always face east, so they can be used as a direction guide. The sun rises and sets east/west now, previously it was north/south. This is addressed in the change log for the 1.1 release.

I thought for sure you were trolling me, since I didn't see anything about it in the very-long change-log.
I still think it was a mistake to change it based on the coordinates. Apparently, one reason to change it is that the maps were forming with "east" facing up. I have found maps to be useless since I can't expand them or get them to line up, so I really hadn't noticed since I was facing "east" when I formed my maps. I was saying that the sunflower face changed with the sunrise/set.
I'm still pretty upset about it since I have 3 builds that were intentionally aligned and placed with the sun cycle which is now awful.
I started using Fraxx01's coordinates add-on to make me feel better about it. Maybe I can make a map wall now or explore further away and just start a new base? The add on puts the position (coordinates) in the bottom right corner for the pocket gui or in the center middle with classic gui. Here's a link to that add on: http://mcpedl.com/coordinates-unlocker-addon/
Mounting horses sometimes causes large amounts of damage to the horse. Both baby horses that I've bred since then have disappeared along with their leads. I presume that they were killed by the fence or lead and the lead despawned. Seems to only happen around double tall fences, so far.
Riding a horse under top slabs sometimes causes the player to suffocate.
Automatically closing doors (pressure plate, buttons) sometimes do not update the display and appear to be stuck open although they are actually closed.
(The dropper elevator does make a clicking sound after all)
You can expand maps in the crafting table with your map surrounded by 8 blank pieces of paper. Getting them to line up just takes practice. I usually just expand to level 3 zoom out, then go off the map and create a new one, expanding it to level 3 as well. They line up perfectly.
I have found one strange thing on Realms. I had tamed a horse, and every time I jumped using that horse, everyone was disconnected from the Realm. Upon logging back in, I was not on my horse nor anywhere near it. The second time it happened, the horse vanished, and so did my beloved saddle. :'(
Noticed that "darkness where it shouldn't be" thing. I put a torch down to fix it, then take the torch – light persists. The problem repeats in the same place, though, if I leave the area.
That, and the on-going crashing thing (thankfully, not losing progress when crash hits), are my only complaints at this point.
Hope the problem is handled soon! This is my favorite brand of crack!

LOL, had forgotten about this! YES, have experienced this! When the rotten little thing zips through your field of view from behind your head, it can be disorienting...

I am having MAJOR issues today:
It will take a while to connect to Xbox account. 1/2 the time it freezes and crashes.
ill play for a little while, log out, go back in a while later and it will load WAY before I logged out.
I will not absorb all XP, sometimes there are a few orbs that constantly hover around me.
Anyone else running into these issues?

I use iOS for the forums i play in Android though.
U ask why? cos it is a secret brother!

However, this bug report confirms that the change was made intentionally.
