Just use water to push them out of the cliffs, I made a spawner so and the design works in PC too:
You can keep the stairway if you wanna get some experience orbs in PC.

To be honest, we can't be sure what else the team will put into MCPE in update 0.9.0 (besides what we know is confirmed). I mean, look how far 0.8.0 has come in development. We started with a few confirmed features like rails and stuff, and now we've got things like beets, compasses, tall grass etc. Who knows what else they'd put in 0.9.0? (I actually would like them to implement ingame music...)

And you are right, I am very greatful for what they've implemented... well I only play Pocket Edition, so to me, it's like they are putting complely new things altogether , though I do wish they'd put in music I bought the soundtrack and play it while playing Minecraft, but it plays too loud over the sounds.

I'm specifically worried about Endermen teleporting out of the grinder because of how it's set up, I want to avoid using any water.
You can't kill endermen that way, you need to watch 'em and when they attack you you just get under a tree (or something so) and you hit 'em with a sword.
