Yes, this is a pain especially when there are so many free servers out there. We do offer single, couple, and family rates. But the low fee allows us to maintain the cost of running the server, helps us to keep griefers and trolls out (why pay to be a pest when you can do it for free), and helps us to give back.
Yes, give back. Surplus funds each year are donated to a charity as picked by the community. Because giving back and doing something positive makes us better people.
