not many people play mcpe. But lots play regular Minecraft. So I think that people on pc should be able to connect to our worlds and vice versa. It would be super awesome for mcpe people to finally be really a part of the Minecraft world. Comment if u agree!

The main problem with this is the differences in the game versions, and there are loads of compatibility issues. Devices that run PE are less powerful than those that run the PC counterpart, and the games are different because of that. Worlds are smaller in PE and there aren't as many features. Players on Windows 10 Edition can play with PE Users, but that's about all.
Sales for the pocket edition have actually surpassed the normal pc version.
While universal minecraft would be great, it most likely wont happen anytime soon because of version differences and exclusives. Also, the normal pc version is written in java, while mcpe is written in C++. I dont think that would work out very well...
Here is an idea, just like we have Flat, Old, and Infinite world types, they can be integrated with the MCPC versions and maps, however, forcing devices to run Java is a lot to ask for, so maybe an optimization feature.?
Like everyone else has stated, the code simply wouldn't match up.
Also, in the rare chance that this would actually happen, Microsoft could potentially try pushing the Marketplace and Microsoft accounts to every platform to increase profits, which would not only make various gamers angry, but would also make game companies like Sony and Nintendo angry. The last thing a game company would want is a customer using a competitor's game services on their own devices.
Java PC will never be able to cross play with PE because Minecraft PE, Minecraft Win 10 ed and all Minecraft Consoles are codded in C++ not Java and Java cant "communicate" with C++ but if Minecraft Console versions get all the same stuff as PE/Win10 we will be able to cross play with Console.
Pretty sure the fact that the PC version is Java and the others are C++ would not make much of a difference. I'm not saying that there's any chance of this being a thing, though.
It would make a difference. As they said in the reply you quoted, the 2 different languages cannot communicate.
I'm just presenting the fact that that might be a myth, if I've learned anything about previous threads like this.
Obviously there is no truth in a code language not being able to communicate with another at all, otherwise half of everything we have on our computers would not talk to each other.
Mojang themselves have stated that Java Edition will never join with any other edition. That's why they made Win10/MCPE/VR/XBox versions cross platform.
I think the C++ fork is short-sighted of Microsoft. I guess that their longer-term plan is for that to take over, possibly as a new game called "Minecraft 2", which would be written in C++, a much more closed-down package, but with the ability for some modding built in to the system. But I think (and rather hope) that that plan will fail.
Well, Microsoft doesn't make the decisions; Mojang and 4J do. And it's not short-sighted at all. The only reason Minecraft PC Edition was ever written in Java is Notch didn't know any other language at the time. Since 2011, every other edition has been written in C++.
Sorry, no Minecraft 2. That's why we have "Editions", i.e. Pocket Edition, Nintendo Switch Edition, etc.
Yes, MCPE has built-in modding via add-ons which have the potential to be better than PC Edition mods. It depends on how much freedom they eventually let us have with them.
Sorry to disappoint you, but it's already a super success. MCPE sells about 1.5x more than all the console versions combined and about 2-3x more than PC Edition.
Java can run on pretty much anything, from a toaster to a supercomputer. Whether that device has enough computer power to run Minecraft is another issue - for example, it's possible to get Linux running on an X-Box, therefore it's possible to get it running java. But it wouldn't be anywhere near fast enough to realistically play the current java Minecraft (or even an old version).
But, devices get more and more powerful. As the processor speeds increase, it becomes less and less important to be optimal. Consider that your average computer keyboard has more computer power than was used in the moon landing missions.
It won't be all that long before any cheap mobile phone can run java Minecraft. A car's built-in computer could run java minecraft, or your fridge could.
Yes, Java is supported on many devices, but not as many as C++. Yes, it depends on the system on whether it can run Minecraft or not. But, it's SUPER important to be optimal. Development isn't just about fixing bugs and adding new features. Optimizing is a big part of it as well. If a program isn't optimized, it could end up using so much of your system that you end up freezing and/or crashing. Remember, most people tend to keep their rigs for several years and don't upgrade unless they have to. Optimizing helps the program run on as many devices as possible. This means more users, which means more profit.
Mobile phones already run Java apps and games. As a matter of fact, Android OS is actually written in Java (and C++).
Reading the rest of the thread, I see that you are referring to the Samsung Family Hub. Sadly, it runs Tizen OS (also written in C++) and does not support Java.
The future lies in open, cross-platform technology - and I'm sure that scares the hell out of Microsoft.
Half correct. Cross-platform is exactly what Mojang is doing. That's why MCPE runs on Android OS, iOS, Windows 10, Fire OS, Fire TV, Apple TV, Gear VR, and the upcoming XBox!! C++ is supported on more platforms than Java. Obviously, it doesn't scare them one bit.
Remember, they have to make back their 3 billion (or how ever much they paid for it) - I don't mean that in any "evil" way; they are duty-bound to do so, for their shareholders. Even though Minecraft remains insanely popular, that is a massive amount to recoup.
Yes, $2.5 billion is a crap ton of money. But, corporations don't invest in things if they don't think they can profit from it in some way. They know roughly how long it'll take to recoup the cost.
As far as their "duty" goes, I'm not getting into how shareholding actually works. It's super complex. All I'll say is that they owe you nothing more than your share of the dividend or what other profit sharing they offer. That aside, they have done well for their shareholders. In the 1st quarter of owning Mojang, Microsoft saw a 79% increase in 1st party game revenue mainly due to Minecraft. MSFT closed at 47.86 on 11/05/2014 (the day before they acquired Mojang) and closed at 71.76 as of 06/02/2017. That's nearly a 150% increase!! Now, I can't say exactly how much of that increase can be attributed to Minecraft but, profit is being made.

Video games are fun except when they're not.

Maybe. But I think there is some other problem with Console.
Oh my god that thing already exists. Um. Ok.
Wonder if it's vulnerable to WannaCry.
