I haven't played PE for quite some time, but I'd heard it's possible to go to the Nether now. So I fired up my ipad and played around for a bit, then built a portal and went through it. However, when I arrived, there was no friendly portal giving me a way back to the Overworld, and I don't have enough obsidian left to build a new one. What's wrong here, and what do I do about it?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. I will face my fear. I will let it pass over me and through me, and when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
Oh...crud. Does PE have fortresses? If so I guess I'll have to find one and hope it has 3 obsidian in it. If not, I guess I'll be starting a new world.
Excellent, they do have fortresses.
How do I determine either the coordinates or the seed in PE?
...never mind. Not used to the controls and walked off a cliff into the ocean. Whoops.

I died all right. Fell into lava, as stated above. Fortunately, the only important thing I was carrying was a diamond pick, and it was on the verge of breaking, so no great loss.

I'm pretty sure he meant despawn. If I'd killed myself in the nether, I could have taken my time getting back, since the despawn timer wouldn't run while I was in the overworld. My items would have waited for me as long as I needed.

Known bug: [MCPE-11880] nether portal not apearing in nether
I've never experienced it though.

You can die and go back to the overworld.
I also read your stuff will stay indefinitely and only "rot" if you are in the nether.

What are you referencing here ("rot")? Is this an MCPE feature or a mod which makes things "rot" and what does that mean?
I don't debug code, I have a stair-down until it confesses.

Yeah, despawn. That's the word. Sorry.
