In survival, I'm down at the bottom of the world, with the first layer of bedrock exposed. I've dug out a fairly large cave (well, large to me) and I'm branch mining.
I started in one corner then kept going until I found lava. Then I turned ninety degrees, went three blocks, turned ninety degrees again and headed back towards the main room. When I find ore, I refill the blocks that I've removed so the tunnel stays one wide and two high.
Some tunnels are so long it takes almost two minutes to get from one end to another.
I'm wondering a few things.
I'm almost ready to start into the corners. I made a simple image for this. The black is what I've done (or almost finished). The red squares are what I haven't done yet. I'm guessing that I'd go down to the back of the corner tunnel, point one, then dig to 2 then 3 and back to 4.
It is recommended that you start mining at Y=11, i.e. 6 blocks above from the top of bedrock. This is because underground lava lakes tend to generate between Y=1 and Y=10.
I personally prefer the technique called "Windmill mining", discovered by a Japanese minecrafter "てりぃ". It is very efficient and is very easy to perform once you understand how to do it. I found an English translation of his tutorial video here. This is how it looks like:
So I'm playing MCPE on my android tablet.

Is this the 'best way' to do this?
Is there a better way to do what I'm doing?
Thoughts? Useful suggestions?
Thanks!!!!
