In order to get chests on mcpe iOS you need to be jailbrocken.
Then you need to have a hex edit package or imcpeedit.
I don't know how to hex edit yet but for imcpeedit you have to be in survival.
Then you have to go into the inventory tap and add stone.
After you do that change the Id to 54. Press back and save.
Go into minecraft pe and you have chests.
When you go into minecraft pe and look in your inventory you will see a chest with red around it.
You can't open them. But that's means that have already coded it.
Do it'll probably be in the next update.

thanks sorta lol. But if we can't open it then then how come we should do this? Not being mean just being honest
Well thats how to get chests he never said it was a real mod
1. The only way an item can be unlocked is by replacing a different item, in this case a furnace. They were NOT rextextured furnaces! Its just like unlocking lava, water, and tnt. You gotta to replace 3 items to get 3 new items, you can't add anymore items into MCPE. I believe modders haven't figured that out yet, nor is it possible at the moment to get new blocks without replacing old blocks.
2.Chests had enough coding to have only 5 slots that can stack 5 items per slot 0.3.2 when unlocked and modified by 500ISE
3. It's possible new coding was added upon from 0.3.2 to 0.3.3.
TL;DR Chests were available and functional in 0.3.2 and they can be unlocked via modding. There is coding, and it was a mod/unlock >.>
Unfortunately no modder has made the effort 500ISE to reveal if chests have more coding that allows further functionality since 0.3.3 came out. *I believe 500ISE is on vacation and other modders don't know how to do it/ too busy....*
