They're cheap here, also HTC just teamed up with Sony to get PS certification on their newer phones, even more of a reason to buy one of the One series
Doing it wrong
AT&T makes it sound exspensive and forces to use a upgrade. Without upgrade for AT&T $699.99

Well I'll need a new phone, thanks for this, I'll look for this deal, I'm an Aussie!
If you want the best gaming experience get the Xperia Play™.
Very expensive thpugh unless you have an upgrade.
Eh, it gets you the gamepad controls (which is a cool feature if you plan to play a lot of games on your phone!) but that's about it. I have an Xperia Pro (pretty much the same specs as the Xperia Play, just with a keyboard instead of the gamepad) and it does get choppy sometimes. Personally I'd say go with something with a bit more muscle if you want MCPE to run really well. I don't know if MCPE can take advantage of multiple cores (at the very least, a second core might keep other background programs from impacting MCPE's framerate too much) but I'd say go for something with a CPU faster than 1GHz, preferably multi-core with 1GB of RAM. The current Droid models, maybe, or the iPhone 4s.

I don't know what everyone is whining about. Almost any smartphone you can buy should be able to run MCPE. MCPE is written in C or C++ or C# or something, not power-intensive Java.
You're doing it wrong.
Droid X is a good choice, I use it as an mp3 player/PDA/gaming device. I also have an SGS2 that's epic for gaming but not cheap.

If it doesn't work, blame GNU and burn it all!
For great justice!
