There is a new company publishing to the app store called Playmore. Playmore is publishing apps falsely advertised as Minecraft clones. So far I have only found 2 titles by them: world of blocks (the one I was tricked by) and mine ICECRAFT (the slightly less deceptive one). World of blocks ($1.99) is advertised as a replica of Minecraft Alpha, and mine ICECRAFT ($1.99) is advertised as a newer version of Minecraft. I was dumb enough to fall for it, and I wanted to make sure no one else would. Apple should take care of this soon.
On iTunes you can send a complaint to the AppStore, they will refund your purchase if it's a good enough reason like yours, and since it is falsely advertised they may take the apps down too

That's good to hear, I just can't believe that even happened in the first place. I thought Apple was anal about their security...

Where did you see the app advertised as a "newer version of Minecraft?" I can't find that anywhere.
As far as I can tell, neither of these apps advertise themselves as Minecraft clones, or use the Minecraft name in any way, so it's not trademark infringement or a "fake." It's just a blatant ripoff from the looks of it.
*"Hmm... The reviews are one star... pass"*
*"Hmm... The reviews are 3 stars... I'll have a look"*
*"Hmm... The reviews are 5 stars... Lets check this out!"*
Flipping apple man!
2 weeks to review a 3mb update for minecraft for safety reasons etc,
and then they put up this garbage on the app store.
and dont bother to check for legitimacy from what the creators claim
the app contains compared to what it actually does.

You obviously don't understand how apple review apps.
As long as it works, they will put it on the App Store, following certain guidelines.
It isn't against the law to put up fake apps, it is up to the user to decide that, if it were illegal, you would wait longer for updates.
And hey, you can't complain when you get your update right?

no no, i dont understand it
I just dont like it
false advertising should be taken seriously.
These apps sit there for up to months taking money from unfortunate/clueless people
claiming that the game is one thing, through pictures and description, while it
doesnt do anything like it.

Yeah, it is a big money maker for apple though. But that's not it, you do have a choice though, whether it is real or fake, and if you read the reviews, people write stuff like "Wish I had read the reviews first, this game SUCK!". You just look at the stars. Simple.
Playmore deserves to be sued. Now, back to our special correspondent in the courtroom, as Mojang, sues Playmore for false advertising and impostoring the game MineCraft. Now, Judge Smith, What is your verdict? "Playmore is guilty, and has to pay Mojang 50,000 euros, and must pull its apps off the market". Ah, this is what shall happen too all MineCraft clones!
Yeah I've seen a lot of these fakes on the app store a s well anything by Golden Games, Playmore, or NewSilver Games that looks like an mc clone, it's fake.
