I find it very odd that they only have two people working on this and only one programmer. With so many people likely to be playing Minecraft for the first time via the Pocket Edition, you'd think they'd want the experience to be more full for new users. The app is selling extremely well on the App Store. I'm sure the same is true for Android.
Hire a few more programmers for a contract gig and get the pocket edition moving. They definitely can afford it.
It's tough to recommend the game to people I know who would only play this as an app, since the features that get you hooked still aren't there yet: caves and crafting being a huge one. And not having the most iconic mob (Creeper) in the game seems to be a huge oversight.
Survival mode was a huge plus, but the game needs ores (and crafting) to encourage exploration. Caves help here as well. Creepers and skeletons are needed to add some chaos to the game, to force you to build, rebuild and fortify your home. Food/health adds to the exploration.
I'm also confused why there isn't any music, and why they didn't add sun/stars yet. It adds the the atmosphere of the game.
They need to contract some freelance programmers and get the game up to at least the level mentioned above. It's not like they are experimenting with new features, there's a definite roadmap of what needs to be added, so the work can be very focused on adding specific things.
I see what you saying about how they should get more people to work on this project that is very true. But for asking why stuff is in the game yet that is because it on a phone they are doing the best can creepers aren't in because they are having trouble to get it to explode and thing with skeleton they can't get the arrow to shoot cave might not even be in cause it might take to much power to produce them and crafting is coming in the next update which will be this week or next week so you just have to wait( sorry if my spelling sucks I'm on my iPhone)
I think its two Aron and Daniel? Correct me if I'm wrong.Anyways I agree they should hire more people like one group for iOS and another for Android.Anyways programming takes time and they just can't copy and paste since Minecraft is in Java and mobile devices are in C++ or C# I can't remember.Just be patient the update will come either this week or next week.

they have said how many problems the sky is giving them, yes it does add to the game but i think people would rather play without it than have the sky and also have their device melt in thair hands.
I think he actually made 2 valid points i didnt even think about, they added day amd night but no sun or moon, that isnt reaching to far that just makes sense, as for the music thats also something id like, or just the ability to play our own music, but in the long run it might come. Besides, pe murders my ipod battery and takes a good chunk off my xperia, im sure theyll add those things in good time
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I'm in the navy and don't play as much as I used to but I'm still a fan. Always scrolling... Watching... Mining...
I went a bit off-topic including my wish list for features. My main point was that Mojang has made quite a bit of money off of all formats of the game, it would seem they could afford to hire a few more programmers to get updates out faster. They don't need to hire someone long term. And even the word "update" is a bit generous as the development of the Pocket Edition is far different than the PC version since they already know what needs to be included.
Anyone who hasn't played the PC version and downloads the game as-is is probably very confused as to what the hype is all about since key features are missing. Hire a few temporary programmers and get the mobile version up to speed. Seems crazy to have one programmer working on the Pocket Edition. But I suppose the sales of the game have proven me wrong.
It's been said endlessly, but for a game called "Minecraft" to not having mining or crafting is a bit odd! Looking forward to the 0.3.0 update this week, I guess we will know then where the Pocket Edition stands.
I can understand peoples frustration with the slow developement but the pocket edition is still probably classed as a side project to mojang, especially with scrolls in developement and also the fact that Kaplan works with most of the teams. Kaplan has to check the developement of the xbox 360 edition as well so the developement of this would be slow.
A million copies sold hardly classifies as a side-project in my book I want to be able to recommend MCPE to people and know that the experience is one that will draw them in the way I got hooked. As it is now I think it's still pretty great, but mostly appeals to experienced players.

Yes, but lets say the can add EVERYTHING, you cant say that the add right now end, pistons, swamp, jungles, hunger, etc. They should do small updates, like tall grass, squids, cookies, wolves etc. Just like in beta, like 1 update or 2 per month will be good.
One interesting thing about the gradual feature additions is the way it really makes you think about what makes the "Minecraft experience". The funny thing is, the tougher the game is, the more fun it is. Unlimited blocks and tools, no Creeper chaos, and no crafting really takes away much of the incentive to explore.

I agree, if those are ever added they can be rolled out slowly later on as you said. But there are some core features that really make the "Minecraft experience" and I feel like those should be added much faster. Then they can go back to a more leisurely development pace.
also another thing is that with each big update to the pocket edition they have to redo alot of the game coding which takes time. Just like adding survival to the game they had to redo a tone of code which is why that also took so long to release.
Yep, which is why it would makes sense to bring a few freelance programmers on board for 6 months to get things converted/re-coded. Once the core stuff is in place it should be much easier for one programmer to keep things rolling.
Yes, for all of the money that they have made on the Pocket Edition alone(PC is alot more), I think that they should be able to get more people working on the game. I don't understand why we only have one person programming for both of the platforms. Also, I think it would be a whole lot easier if Aron had twitter.

No, there is 2, Aron, and Kaplan, Aron is the programmer, and Kaplan is the designer
pd: my friend, we got already the crafting update, just the app store takes its time
